In search of the real Bethlehem
By Norman Hammond, Archaeology Correspondent

AS THE shops fill with Christmas goods, a mere two months ahead of the festival itself, the words and image of “O Little Town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie” will spread across cards and giftwrap. In the view of a leading Israeli archaeologist, Bethlehem really did lie still at the time of Christ’s birth, because there was no little town there, and the Nativity took place elsewhere — at another Bethlehem much closer to Nazareth.

“There is a complete absence of information for antiquities from the Herodian period — that is, from the time around the birth of Jesus,” Aviram Oshri says inArchaeology. “The vast database of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) describes Bethlehem as an ‘ancient site’ with Iron Age material, and the 4th- century Church of the Nativity and associated Byzantine and medieval buildings.

“Following the Six-Day War in 1967, surveys showed plenty of Iron Age pottery, but with the single exception of a publication that mentions Herodian sherds found in a corner of the church, there is surprisingly no archaeological evidence that ties Bethlehem in Judaea to the period in which Jesus would have been born.” A contemporary aqueduct running through the locality suggests that there was no settlement, since such works did not cross built-up areas.

In the 1990s, as one of the IAA’s staff archaeologists, Mr Oshri carried out rescue archaeology at the rural settlement of Bethlehem in Galilee, and was surprised to find a substantial ancient community of the time of Christ. “We know that Bethlehem of Galilee was a “bustling centre of Jewish life around the time of Jesus’s birth,” he says. “There were residential areas, and a workshop for making stone vessels used in Jewish purification rituals.”

In the 19th century there were suggestions that the Galilee site could have been the “real” Bethlehem, but there was at the time no archaeological evidence to back them up. Since then, evidence of surprisingly strong early Christian interest has been found, including a large 6th-century church with mosaic floors, one of the largest in Israel. It “raises the question of why such a huge house of Christian worship was built in the heart of a Jewish area,” Mr Oshri notes.

There is still the thorny point of the Gospel testimony, with both Matthew and Luke describing Bethlehem in Judaea as the birthplace of Christ, but Mr Oshri notes that it was also the legendary birthplace of King David more than 1,000 years before, and attaching the Nativity of Christ to the location would reinforce His reputed descent from David. It would also bring in the Old Testament prophecies, such as Micah v, 2 — “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that that is to be ruler in Israel” — that foretell the coming of a Messiah, albeit one who will “waste the land of Assyria with the sword”.

Bethlehem of Galilee is itself known in the Old Testament, mentioned by Joshua as a town of the tribe of Zebulon, and as the refuge of guardian priests who fled to Galilee after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. It may never displace its Judaean homonym in Christian belief, but the discrepancy in the archaeological evidence for the two places at the appropriate date remains an intriguing source for speculation.

Passover lambs must be at least a year old

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009
Passover lambs must be at least a year old.
The following was revealed to me last Passover and it is my duty to make
this information known to those who observe Passover by killing a Lamb.
Hear are some of my notes as to why the lamb must be a year-old.
One key is the phrase WITHOUGT BLEMISH includes being a year-old, not
just defective in body parts. In other words WITHOUT BLEMISH covers
everything including being a year-old. An animal that meets all the
requirements but has not been seven days with its mother will not be
accepted as a possible sacrifice because that is considered a blemish
but a lamb eight days and upwards will be accepted as a candidate for
sacrifice. An animal that has only one ear will not be accepted as a
possible sacrifice even if it meets the other requirements. An animal
that is not a year-old does not meet the requirements because it is not
complete/mature until it reaches a year-old. A sheep does not receive
its adult teeth until a year-old. An animal that is taken away from its
mother after six days and is bottle fed, will not be accepted as a
sacrifice, even if it grows up to be perfect in every other way. An
animal that has been with its mother for at least seven days after birth
and growth to maturity in one year and has not had a broken body part or
defect is eligible for sacrifice.
In the New T
estament when it says to be PERFECT, it is referring to
MATURE. The Father does not won’t an inperfect or immature sacrifice.
The son of YHWH was a mature sacrifice.
Jas 1:4 says, “But let patience have her PERFECT work, that ye may be
PERFECT and ENTIRE, wanting nothing.” Here’s the definition of perfect,
Strong’s Greek Dictionary
5046. teleios
??????? teleios tel’-i-os
from 5056; COMPLETE (in various applications of labor, GROWTH, mental
and moral character, etc.); neuter (as noun, with 3588) COMPLETENESS:–
OF FULL AGE, man, perfect.
Note, a lamb is not perfect or complete or of full age until a year-old.
The definition of entire is,
Strong’s Greek Dictionary
3648. holokleros
????????? holokleros hol’-ok’-lay-ros
from 3650 and 2819; COMPLETE IN EVERY PART, i.e. perfectly sound (in
body):–entire, WHOLE.
Here’s the Hebrew definition of WITHOUT BLEMISH
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
8549. tamiym
Mymt tamiym taw-meem’
from 8552; ENTIRE (literally, figuratively or morally); also (as noun)
integrity, truth:–without blemish, COMPLETE, FULL, perfect, sincerely
(-ity), sound, without spot, undefiled, upright(-ly), WHOLE.
Notice the words mean the same thing.
Le 1:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man
of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring=2
0your offering of
the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.
Le 1:3 If his offering be a BURNT SACRIFICE of the herd, let him offer a
male WITHOUT BLEMISH: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the
door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.
Notice this offering must be a male that is ENTIRE because that is what
the definition of without blemish means and a lamb is not entire or
complete until it gets its adult teeth after one year.
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
8552. tamam
Mmt tamam taw-mam’
a primitive root; to COMPLETE, in a good or a bad sense, literal, or
figurative, transitive or intransitive (as follows):– ACCOMPLISH,
cease, be clean (pass-)ed, consume, have done, (come to an, have an,
make an) end, fail, come to the full, be all gone, X be all here, be
(make) PERFECT, be spent, sum, be (shew self) upright, be wasted, WHOLE.
Ex 12:3 says, “Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In
the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a LAMB,
according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Ex 12:4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his
neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the
souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the
lamb.
Ex 12:5 Your LAMB shall be WITHOUT BLEMISH, a male of the FIRST Y
EAR: ye
shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
The Hebrew definition of LAMB is,
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
7716. seh
hs seh seh
or sey {say}; probably from 7582 through the idea of PUSHING OUT TO
GRAZE; a member of a flock, i.e. a sheep or goat:–(lesser, small)
cattle, ewe, goat, lamb, sheep. Compare 2089.
An eight day old lamb is a member of the flock BUT does not go out to
graze. A year-old lamb does. The lamb must be a year old member of the
flock which is a grazing lamb.
The definition of year is,
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
8141. shaneh (in pl. only),
hnv shaneh (in pl. only), shaw-neh’
(in plura or (feminine) shanah {shaw-naw’}; from 8138; a year (as a
revolution of time):–+ whole AGE, X long, + old, year(X -ly).
The lamb must be a son of a year or whole year or revolution of time.
Ex 12:5 Your lamb shall be WITHOUT BLEMISH, a male of the FIRST YEAR :
ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
All sacrifices must be a year-old according to the law, even burnt
offense made by fire and nothing should contradict this.
Ex 29:38 Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two
lambs of the FIRST YEAR day by day continually.Ex 29:39 The one lamb
thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at
even: . …..Ex 29:41 And the other lamb thou shalt o
ffer at even, and
shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and
according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an OFFERING
MADE BY FIRE unto the LORD.
Ex 29:42 This shall be a continual BURNT OFFERING throughout your
generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the
LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.
Ex 29:43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the
tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.
Notice the burnt offerings/offerings made by fire has to be A YEAR-OLD
Le 9:1 And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron
and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
Le 9:2 And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin
offering, and a ram for a BURNT OFFERING, WITHOUT BLEMISH, and offer
them before the LORD.
Le 9:3 And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye
a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of
the FIRST YEAR, WITHOUT BLEMISH, for a BURNT OFFERING; Le 9:4 Also a
bullock and a ram for PEACE OFFERINGS, to sacrifice before the LORD; and
a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day the LORD will appear unto
you.
Le 9:5 And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle
of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before
the LORD.
Le 9:620And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that
ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you. Le 12:6
And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a
daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the FIRST YEAR for a BURNT OFFERING,
and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door
of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
As far as I can find, every sacrifice and every offering have to be a
year-old, including the Passover.
There is a place in Scripture that looks like animals under a year was
sacrificed but that would not harmonize with the above, not only the
above but there were many scriptures too numerous to mention that
specify the offerings is to be of the FIRST YEAR and we know that FIRST
does not appear in the original and literally says, “son of a year”
lookup first year in the concordance. I do not know of one place that
conclusively teaches a sacrifice under a year. There are many, too
numerous to mention, that says a year-old. The following are the only
two scriptures that I know of that could possibly refer to a sacrifice
under a year old but if that is so, we have contradictory, so I will try
to harmonize the Scriptures to fit the many other scriptures.
1Sa 7:9 And Samuel took a SUCKING LAMB, and offered it for a BURNT
OFFERING wholly20unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for
Israel; and the LORD heard him.
This might be understood as a lamb under a year-old because of the word
SUCKLING but this would contradict the many other scriptures concerning
burnt offerings which had to be  of a YEAR-OLD according to the Law. I
don’t believe Samuel broke the law. The law says, “Ex 29:38 Now this is
that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the FIRST YEAR
day by day continually….Ex 29:41 And the other lamb thou shalt offer
at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the
morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet
savour, an OFFERING MADE BY FIRE unto the LORD.
Ex 29:42 This shall be a continual BURNT OFFERING throughout your
generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the
LORD:
If the law says the burnt offerings must be a year-old, why would Samuel
offer one under a year-old???
When we look up the word “suckling” it could be actually saying that
Samuel chose the richest or fattest choice animal and offered it up and
the Almighty heard him. Here is the definition,
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
2461. chalab
blx chalab khaw-lawb’
from the same as 2459; milk (as the RICHNESS OF KINE):–+ cheese, milk,
sucking.
When we look up 2459 it says,
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
2459. cheleb
0D
blx cheleb kheh’-leb
or cheleb {khay’-leb}; from an unused root MEANING TO BE FAT; fat,
whether literally or figuratively; hence, THE RICHEST OR CHOICE PART:–X
best, fat(-ness), X finest, grease, marrow.
In other words Samuel chose the richest and choicest part of the flock
for an offering. This would harmonize with the many scriptures and would
not be contrary to the law.
In English we might say that it was a SUCCULENT/juicy offering. That’s
probably where we get this word from, SUCCULENT. It was a
succulent/juicy piece of meat
Another way we might harmonize Samuel is to literally say that he
offered a sucking Lamb of a year-old but was still sucking. But we must
remember the word lamb refers to a grazing animal, not a sucking one. We
must not boil a kid in its mother’s milk could be referring to an animal
that is still nursing, which is a delicacy to the world. At any rate
I have witnessed on many occasions, animals that was over a year-old
still sucking and I could already that this was the case but I believe
first understanding that I presented is the better.
The other Scripture is in Leviticus 22:27,
Le 22:27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then
it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and
THENCEFORTH it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the
LORD.
THIS IS NOT THE20ONLY REQUIREMENT for the sacrifice. The other
requirements are listed above and include being a year-old, without
blemish, etc. What if the animal has been seven days with its mother and
on the eighth day and forward it has a broken leg, shall it be accepted?
What if it has been seven days with its mother and has one eye, shall it
be accepted? What if it has been with its mother seven days and is not a
year-old, shall it be accept? I believe it has to meet ALL these
requirements, not just be seven days with its mother.
The above verse is not saying that just because it has been with its
mother for seven days it shall be accepted, regardless of anything else.
It is merely saying that this is a requirement in addition to all the
other requirements. At least this is how I see it for now. I am not
through studying the subject and am open to just one conclusive
Scripture where an animal was under a year-old when sacrificed.
Le 22:27 says, “When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth,
then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and
“thenceforth” it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the
YHWH.”
If I am going to say that an eight day old bullock or sheep is okay,
then I must say the THENCEFORTH which means TO THE DISTANCE, BEYOND,
FORWARD is also okay. In other words ANYTHING beyond eig
ht days is okay,
which would include an animal over 1-year-old. Here’s the definition of
“thenceforth”,
Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary
1973. hal@ah
halh hal@ah haw-leh-aw’
from the primitive form of the article (hal); TO THE DISTANCE, i.e. FAR
AWAY; also (of time) thus far:–back, BEYOND, (hence,-) FORWARD,
hitherto, thence,forth, yonder.
I believe this verse is saying that after seven days with its mother, it
is eligible for sacrifice as long as it meets the other requirements
which is understood from other Scripture including where it has to be a
year-old. When it says, “a son of a year “, it could possibly have the
understanding that all sacrifices must be at least a year old, according
to the above scripture but to be safe, a lamb over a year and under two
years is ideal. The Messiah was over two years old and He fulfilled
every aspect of the Passover lamb which included, not a bone to be
broken, a male, killed on the 14th, a lamb that didn’t complain, without
blemish, at least a year old etc.
A male of a year old Geneva Bible a yearling is an animal that is one
year old. World book dictionary
Last but not least, we have an eyewitness from a priest as to how things
were done during the time of the Messiah and his apostles. This man name
was Philo and he was actually a priest from the tribe of Levi and who
would know better
as to how old a lamb had to be to be accepted? Here’s
what he says in QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON EXODUS translated by Ralph
Marcus page 14, Book 1 #7 it says, “why does (Moses(command (them( to
take a “perfect male sheep of one year”? (It is to be( perfect in two
physical features, (namely( in the sensitive parts of the body and also
in the other organs. For an inperfect (sacrifice( is not worthy to be
brought to the altar of God. And (it is to be( male, first, because the
mail is more perfect than the female. Were for it is said by the
naturalist that the female is nothing else than an inperfect male. In
the second place, since it was commanded by the King of the land that
the males should die, he thought it right, in face of this and also for
the sake of Thanksgiving, to make a sacrifice of male animals. And
third, because of the King’s cruelty and wickedness in ordering the
proclamation against the Hebrew children, (he thought it right( to
nourish the female and to kill the male (sheep(. For since the (King’s(
Commandment had been annulled by the friendliness and humaneness and
power of God, it was proper to give thanks for the males unexpectedly
kept alive by (making( male sacrifices. And (the sheep is to be( a
year-old, since the males become perfect in a year. (The footnote on
perfect says, i.e. full- grown.( For having added the “perfec
t” as a
sort of prime consideration, he further adds those details in which it
is perfect, (namely( that it is more perfect than the female, while the
“year-old” shows the time sufficient for the perfecting of such animals.
That is the literal meaning. But as for the deeper meaning…….

Revisiting Leviticus 23 in a new light

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

Revisiting Leviticus 23 in a new light
Did you know that if you were to simply follow the instructions in Leviticus 23, the weekly Sabbaths will automatically fall on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of the Moon, each and every year?

In Leviticus 23 we are instructed as to which days are Holy convocations or appointments. We will soon see that the truth is sometimes hidden in simplicity and sometimes stranger than fiction.
I will ask the reader to simply follow instructions as they were given in Leviticus 23, not adding to or diminishing from the Word of YHWH.

Verse 2 says, “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the “appointments” of YHWH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy “assemblies”, even these are My “appointments”. 3”Six days” shall “work” be done: but the “seventh day” is the sabbath/intermission of rest, an holy “assembly”; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath/intermission of YHWH in all your dwellings.”

So far the above clearly tells us “WHAT” the appointments of YHWH are and that it is the “seventh day” which comes after “six workdays” throughout the whole year, no more and no less, and so far, this is all we know because hopefully we have dismissed everything else from our minds so that we can follow the pure Instructions of YHWH.
Continuing on,

4. These are the “appointments” of YHWH, even holy “assemblies”, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. 5. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is YHWH’S passover. 6. And on the “fifteenth” day of the same month is the “appointment” of unleavened bread unto YHWH: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
So far there’s nothing to cause us to believe that this 15th is not a appointment/feast, same as the one spoken of in verse three and that it isany different from the one that comes after six workdays except that it is the beginning of a seven-day feast which makes it special but to my knowledge it is never called a “Sabbaton” which means a “special Sabbath” i.e. different than the one that comes after six workdays, and until I find where the Scripture calls it a Sabbaton, I will not call it a Sabbaton even though it will not affect what I am saying.

We will see in a little while that the 15th in the seventh month “is” called a Sabbaton/special Sabbath or intermission because it does not come after six workdays (the Day of Atonement breaks up the 6 work days.) and the Scripture indicates that the 15th is a intermission/Sabbath BESIDES or in addition to the weekly Sabbath that comes after six workdays, as we will see shortly.

The new moon day of that seventh month is also called a “Sabbaton” because it to is a special new moon day and doubled sacrifices are offered on it, which is another subject. I am trying to get away from saying things like, well, the 15th in the seventh month is called a Sabbaton so the 15th in the first month must be a Sabbaton also. The Hebrew nor Septuagint calls it a Sabbaton.

Continuing on and on,
7. In the first day ye shall have an holy assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein. 8. But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH seven days:
Why do we have a holy assembly on the first day?

Because it is a “Seventh day” intermission/Sabbath that comes after six workdays, at least that is what we have been talking about so far, the seventh day which comes after six workdays. “Remember” we are simply following instructions and so far there’s been nothing mentioned to insinuate that there is another feast/appointment/holy assembly other than the one that comes after six workdays, that is mentioned above in verse three.

Continuing on with verse 8,
in the “seventh” day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

It is not conclusive that this seventh day is referring to the seventh day of the feast, it could be a repeat same as other repeats throughout the Scriptures and could be refering to the 7th day that comes after the 6 work days. Exodus 13:6-7 shows a repeat.

“6. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to YHWH. 7. Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days;”

I might mentioned if there were two Sabbaths/intermission, one on the 15th at the beginning of the feast and one on the 21st or seventh day of the feast, how would not know from the Scripture, which sabbath/intermission to count to Pentecost from when you come into the land and you are to wave the sheaf on the morrow after the Sabbath, we would not know which sabbath, if there were two of them. This is just a thought I might be wrong in this, I have not examined it fully, and I keep the 7th day of the feast out of the abundance of caution.

Continuing on,
9. And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, 10. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: 11. And he shall wave the sheaf before YHWH, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

The Sabbath in this verse is still speaking of the weekly Sabbath that comes after six workdays, nothing has changed since verse three, the subject is still the same so far.
Continuing on,
12. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto YHWH. 13. And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto YHWH for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. 14. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears,“until” the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

The wave sheaf seems to be so important that you don’t eat any thing else until the day that it is waved, including unleavened bread. I believe it is connected with the resurrection of our Savior who is the firstfruits of them that sleep.

Continuing on,

15. And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath/intermission, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths/intermissions shall be complete: 16. Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath/intermission shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YHWH.

The above sabbaths/intermissions are STILL the same as the one in verse three that comes after six workdays and so far nothing has changed to lead us to believe that any of the appointments/Sabbath thus far, does not come after six workdays, including the 15th. I am trying to follow the simple and pure instructions without adding what I’ve been taught. The subject has not changed yet.

Continuing on,
17. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto YHWH. 18. And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto YHWH, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto YHWH. 19. Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. 20. And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before YHWH, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to YHWH for the priest.  21. And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

Notice it teaches that Pentecost is an holy convocation but does not call it a “Sabbath” possibly because it is not always a seventh day Sabbath that comes after six workdays which is the subject thus far, more on this later. So far the weekly Sabbath/intermission that comes after six workdays is the primary Sabbath/intermission of Leviticus 23 and the Scriptures itself will tell you when the subject changes and another Sabbath/intermission besides the one that comes after six workdays, is introduced, which does not follow the six workdays and one rest pattern.

Continuing on,
22. And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am YHWH your God.
The following instructions shows the change from the primary appointments/feast days which comes after six workdays, to appointments/feasts that do not come after six workdays.

Continuing on,
23. And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, 24. Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the “seventh month”, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. 25. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH. 26. And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, 27. Also on the “tenth day” of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH. 28. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before YHWH your God. 29. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. 30. And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. 31. Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32. It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.”

We see that the 10th day of the seventh month is called a Sabbath/intermission of rest which cannot be a rest after six workdays even though the same Hebrew word  is used, the following verses will prove that the day of atonement and the 15th are sabbaths/intermissions that do notcome after six workdays.
Continuing on it says,

33. And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, 34. Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The “fifteenth” day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto YHWH. 35. On the first day shall be an holy assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein. 36. Seven days ye shall offer an “offering made by fire unto YHWH”: on the “eighth day” shall be an holy assembly unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH: it is a “solemn” assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

”37. These” are the feasts of YHWH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: ”38. Beside the Sabbaths” of YHWH, “and”beside your gifts, “and beside” all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto YHWH.

Why does the above instructions say that “these” are appointments/feast “to offer” offerings made by fire, burnt offerings etc. “besides”the Sabbaths????

The word Sabbath here is not the word for sabbaton and neither is it in the Septuagint. It is the same word for the weekly seventh day that comes after six workdays in both the Hebrew and the Greek texts.
The above shows some assemblies/appointments “besides” or in addition to the weekly Seventh day Sabbath/intermission that comes aftersix workdays. The day of atonement which comes after one work day and is on the 10th day of the seventh month and there’s only fourwork days between the rest day on the 10th and the rest day on the 15th of the seventh month and “unlike” the 15th in the first month, this 15th is called a “Sabbaton” because it is a special Sabbath/intermission that not only begins the seven-day feast of tabernacles but does not come after six workdays.

Continuing on,
“39. Also” in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto YHWH seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
The 15th and the eight day from it are called Sabbaton’s. We can explain why the 15th is called a Sabbaton or special appointment because it does not fit the mold of an intermission after six workdays as in Genesis one and it is the beginning of the Feast of Tabernacles, but what about the eighth day from it, it comes after six workdays?

The only thing I can figure on such short notice is, possibly different offerings are offered on this day, or it is the only weekly seventh day Sabbath that is not counted from another seventh day Sabbath or new moon day, which would make it different from all the other seventh day Sabbath that comes after six workdays throughout the year, and that is could be why is called a Sabbaton or special Sabbath.

Continuing on,

40. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before YHWH your God seven days. 41. And ye shall keep it a feast unto YHWH seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: 43. That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am YHWH your God. 44. And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of YHWH.
Notice verse 44 where Moses declared unto them the feast/appointments of YHWH for the whole year, i.e. the ones that comes after six workdays, which are the primary feasts, and the ones that do not come after six workdays.

APPOINTED in Hebrew

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

SUN AND MOON “NOT” CREATED ON DAY FOUR.

For those who believe the Sun and moon was created on day four, here is something to consider. The word appointed in Psm- 104:19 “He “appointed” (or made) the moon for “seasons” (Feasts or Sabbaths) is the same Hebrew word found in Gen. 1:14. Where it says “He “made” (appointed) two great lights” The word MADE means APPOINTED in Hebrew.

The question is, When did He appoint (make) the moon for Seasons? Was it not in Genesis 1: 14 where it says He made/appointedthe great lights for seasons??

The Scripture is teaching that there were two great lights appointed on day four for a purpose (calendar) not created on day four. They were placed in the firmament of the heaven in such a way not only to give light on the earth but for a calendar to beacon the appointments of YHWH.

When you make someone captain of a team, or appoint them to be captain, it doesn’t mean they were not already there for you to make or appoint them captain, epically if you had already called the team together in the beginning before you made or appointed someone captain.  (Both Heaven AND Earth were created before He worked on them for 6 days and on day 4, two great lights were appointed for a special task, other than divide the light from the darkness which it was already doing before day 4, see Gen-1.)

Remember you had evening and morning, evening and morning, evening and morning, before day four. You also had light, green things, night and day, creation of the Heavens, Earth, etc before He made/appointed the sun and moon to rule and for the calendar.

Where do you think they were before He appointed them???

In the Tanach, Stone edition, commentary by a well known Hebrew Scholar named Rashi, in his comments on Gen-1:14 it says ” The luminaries, which had been created on the first day, were set in place on the forth” (work day), there is no evidence what so ever to support the theory that the great lights were created on day four, but were appointed on the 4th work day, or advanced upon for His calendar.

Even if the sun and moon were created on day 4, it would still be in plenty of time to do what they were created for and that is for a beacon of the appointments. “Let them be for days and years signs (beacons) and seasons (appointments)” yes, even if the sun and moon were created on day four they would be in plenty of time to beacon the appointments including the weekly appointment, after the six workdays and even if they were created on day four it would not made day four the first day of the year or the first day of the month because it does not say what phase the moon was in or what position the sun was in on day four. I believe they BOTH would have been in a 4th work day of the Year and Month, so as to reflect the prievous days, which any calendar will do.

30 Day Month Myth
Some people claim that the months were originally 30 days each and one thing used to establish this is the book of Genesis where it teaches that the flood prevailed upon the earth for 150 days, from the 17th of the second month until the 17th of the seventh month.
First of all this has nothing to do with a calendar but rather a time of how long the water prevailed upon the earth because your counting from the MIDDLE of the second month into the MIDDLE of the seventh month which is actually 151 days not 150 days, but at any rate they’re not five full months/moons because they began in the MIDDLE of one month to the middle of another month.

What if it has said that the waters prevailed upon the earth for 140 days instead of 150 and the ark rested on the 7th day of the seventh month, instead of the 17th, would that make the months originally 28 days long, just because five times 28 is 140??? NO it would not and neither does the other make the months originally 30 days long. It has nothing to do with the calendar.
Even though this is not even a calendar Issue, I will show how it is possible to arrive at 150 days NOT 151 days by using the ordinances of the moon as they exist today. First of all I hope everyone understands that the moon is 29 ½ point so many days each month and it is possible to have a 29 day month one month and the 30-day month the next and it is also possible to have two 30-day months back-to-back or even two 29 days most back-to-back but at any rate I will show you how is possible.
If the second month was a 30-day month and the flood began on the 17th day of that 30-day month you would have 14 days left over, before the 2nd 30-day month began and if you had a 29 day month after the second 30-day month and then two more 30-day months back-to-back, your count would look like this,

14 days left of the second month plus 30 days of the third month plus 29 days of the fourth month plus 30 days of the fifth month plus 30 days of the six-month plus the 17 days of the seventh month which equals 150 days. Remember the other count yields 151 days instead of 150 days, when drawn out on a sheet of paper, try it yourself.

Furthermore the Scripture teaches the ordinance of the moon will not change or Israel would cease to be a nation. The moon has not sped up from it taking 30 days to orbit the Earth, to 29 and one half. The above does not prove 30 day months and neither does Daniel or Revelations, which I will deal with later.

Lunar Sabbaths weekly Sabbath

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

First of all, I don’t believe that Historical evidence trumps Scripture but the doctrines that I believe  the Scripture teaches are supported by Historical evidence, which includes the Sacred Name, Lunar Sabbaths, and when a day begins etc. this lets us know that we are not observing some new wieekly Sabbath that cannot be traced back to the time of the Temple. We can CONCLUSIVELY prove from many Snd of doctrine, like the traditional wcriptures that our Savior and His Apostles observed the SAME weekly Sabbath as did the Jews of his day and we can CONCLUSIVELY prove from the HISTRICAL evidence that the Jews of His day kept “LUNAR” Sabbaths.

This Historical evidence is recorded in the book of Philo the Jew who lived at the same time our Saviour did. Seehttp://lunarsabbath.info/_wsn/page3.html

One of the major objections to Lunar Sabbaths is that people believe that the Jews have always kept up with the weekly Sabbath from creation to now, but is this true?

No! this statement is not true according to scripture and even the Jews themselves. The Scripture clearly teaches in Laminations 2:6 that YHWH Himself caused the Sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion and even Daniels prophesy teaches us they would think change times and laws and the Sabbath they are keeping today is what It was changed to and therefore cannot be the correct Sabbath.

The Jews themselves claim that the weekly Sabbath is OBSCURE and they do not know where it originated but some say that it was by the phases of the moon and others by the seven planets. Can you are imagine the Jews admitting this?

This admission is found in the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia under the article Sabbath and was written by a well-respected Rabbi by the name of Max Joseph. Most Jews do not have this knowledge and simply follow tradition, same as most Christians, they do not study the Scripture for themselves and they follow the traditions of men and make the Commandments of none effect.

They do claim that the blessings which the world possesses in its weekly day of rest and observance is owed exclusively to Israel even though they do not know where it came from. The same author in another article under CALENDAR acknowledges that the Sabbaths were ORIGINALLY by the phases of the moon and therefore it is obvious that he was not one of those who believed it was by the seven planets.

Someone might ask, why would a Hebrew scholar like Max Joseph who knew and publicly acknowledge that the Sabbaths were originally by the phases of the moon and then continue keeping the traditional Saturday Sabbath, not knowing where it originated?

I have asked myself this same question Concerning the True Name of the Creator. Most scholars agree that it was originally YHWH but they continue using the traditional name J-sus not realizing the Importance of using the Name that He gave to Himself, this also amazes me but it is true. It goes back to vain warship, not doing what the Commandments says. He teaches us that the Scribes and Pharisees were sitting in Moses seat and whatever they say is right but they would not do it. The Jews admit that the Sabbaths were originally by the phases of the Moon but will not keep them that way.

These articles are found in the 1943 Universal Jewish Encyclopedias called the war encyclopedias and every one knows that when there is a major crisis and people think that the world is coming to an end etc, they repent of their sins and tend to be as honest as possible, which could have been the case here with Max Joseph. At any rate when people use the argument that the Jews kept with it, we see that the Jews admit that they do not know where the weekly Sabbath that they are keeping originated and at the same time admit that it was originally by the phases of the moon.

These two articles can be verified in the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, volume five, edited by Isaac Landman, The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia Inc., New York, 1941, article “Holydays,” page 410. And the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, volume nine, edited by Isaac Landman, The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Inc., New York, 1943, Oracle “Sabbath,” page 295.

Brother Arnold

CHECK THIS OUT.

LUNAR SABBATHS CONFIRMED BY JEWS

I realize that some people are not going to believe lunar Sabbaths, no matter what Historical evidence you give them or what scriptural proof you present, they are going to remain in a state of denial and reject the word of YHWH to the very end holding their traditions but here is more evidence from the Jewish people themselves, in addition to the evidence already given, that the Jewish people knew that the weekly seventh day that they are now keeping is not right and that the weeks and the seventh day of the weeks were originally by the phases of the moon.

In the 1943 Universal Jewish Encyclopedia volume 10 page 482 edited by Isaac Landman under the article “week”, written by Simon Cohen, Director of Research, it says,

“WEEK (in Hebrew shabua). The idea of the week, as a subdivision of the month, seems to have arisen in Babylonia, where each lunar month was divided into four parts, corresponding to the four phases of the moon. The first week of each month began with the new moon, so that, as the lunar month was one or two days more than four periods of seven days, these additional days were not reckoned at all. Every seventh day (sabbatum) was regarded as an unlucky day. This method of reckoning time spread westward through Syria and Palestine, and was adopted by the Israelites, probably after they settled in Palestine. With the development of the importance of the Sabbath as a day of consecration and emphasis laid upon the significant number seven, the week became more and more divorced from its lunar connection, so that by the time of the second Temple it was merely a period of seven days and no longer depended on the new moon. From Judaism the week passed over to Christianity, and through the influence of the later was generally adopted throughout the Roman empire; Islam also made use of the week for its Sabbath days.
Jews never had any special names for the days of the week, usually denoting them by ordinal numerals: first, second, third and so on.”

Although the Historical research is undeniable and is in PERFET harmony with scripture and other Historians and Scholars who have discovered the same, I disagree with his statement that it was probably adopted by the Israelites, after they settled in Palestine. I believe the Babylonians receives it from their father Adam and it was handed down from there. The scripture also teaches Lunar Sabbaths but at least he recognizes they were keeping Lunar Weeks with a Lunar Sabbath at the end of each, (which began somewhere) up unto the second Temple, probably because of the writings of Philo, Clemet of Alexandra, etc. and who knows what all evidence and books that this Director of Research had at his disposal. At any rate his research is sound and it proves the Jews were at some point keeping Lunar weeks and went FROM the LUNAR week to the traditional week they observe today which is a 1-7 continuous cycle paying no attention to the moon.

This also supports Rabbi Max Joseph’s article under Sabbath where he admits the Sabbath is obscure and they don’t know exactly where it came in, of course he had also the knowledge that it was originally by the phases of the moon, same as this author. These other two articles by Max Josephs can be verified in the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, volume five, edited by Isaac Landman, The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia Inc., New York, 1941, article “Holydays,” page 410. And the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, volume nine, edited by Isaac Landman, The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Inc., New York, 1943, Oracle “Sabbath,” page 295.

We see that the Rabbis and Director of Research, Jewish scholars, were aware that the weeks and the Sabbath they are now keeping were not the original, as far back as 1943, and I know of another 1905 Jewish Encyclopedia that acknowledges it which I will obtain later.
If they can admit it then why can’t we?

If the Jewish Director of Research, Simon Cohen researched the seven-day week all the way back to the Babylonians and acknowledges that the Israelites received it from them, the rest would be easy because where does he think the Babylonians received it from? Where did the Babylonians get the concept of a week and the keeping of a seventh day of the week from in the first place? We know the Babylonians were direct descendents of Noah who was a direct descendent of Adam who was the created son of YHWH.

The Babylonians and Abraham who were taught by Noah and his son Shem who lived in and around the Metropolitan city Babylon. Abraham knew about the true calendar because they received it from Adam and his descendents who received it from YHWH.

If you study the above carefully you will see that the Jewish author of this article would have to believe the Hebrew children were actually Keeping Lunar Sabbaths every seventh day of the Lunar Week up until the second Temple where the Julius Caesar calendar that was introduced in 46 B.C. began to phase its way in . Of course this calendar was not readily accepted by the Jewish people and that is why you read in the Dead Sea Scrolls where they were showing where the Sabbaths and new moons would fall throughout the year on this new commercial calendar. Time and time again you see in the Dead Sea Scrolls where the scribe were saying things like the new moon is going to fall here and the Sabbath is going to fall here or a certain feast day here and that because the Sabbaths and new moons and feast days did not have a part of that Roman calendar and they were showing where they would fall throughout the year. Else they would not have to say that it falls here or there if it was already there.

Side Note! Remember these Scholars are Saturday Sabbath keepers and have no bones to pick, they are just stating facts. It does not matter to them how much Historical proof is presented or how many scriptures there are that conclusively prove that the early Israelites kept Lunar Sabbaths, they are NOT going to change, they are going to stay with the traditional Sabbath knowing that it does NOT square with scripture or History. How about YOU, will you also deny the Word of YHWH and follow these BLIND leaders, no matter what the evidence shows? The choice is YOURS.

How they counted Pentecost

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

For us to better understand how they counted Pentecost, let us go to the eyewitnesses that lived at the time of our Saviour, to see how it was done.

Philo the Jew, who lived at the time, shows that the 50th day count to Pentecost “begins” on the morrow “AFTER” the seventh Sabbath complete, NOT 50 days from  the wave sheaf, and therefore the 50th day after the WAVE SHEAF is NOT Pentecost. You are to number 50 days after the 7th Sabbath and then offer the new grain offering on the day of Pentecost..

Below are plain instructions from the men that lived at that time, which show that the 50th day is counted from the day “after” the seventh Sabbath complete, NOT from the wave sheaf.

Quoting from Philo The Special Laws 11 page 584, chapter 30 (176)

“THE SEVENTH FESTIVAL
XXX. (176) The “solemn assembly” on the occasion of the “festival” of the sheaf having such great privileges, is the “prelude” to“another” festival of still “greater importance”; for from “this day” the “fiftieth day” is reckoned, making up the sacred number ofseven sevens, with the addition of a “unit” as a seal to the whole; and this festival, being that of the first fruits of the corn, has derived its name of Pentecost from the number of “fifty,”
From the above we see they kept the 16th of the 1st month as a feast and solemn assembly when they waved the sheaf and it was called a“prelude” or introduction to “ANOTHER” feast that was “more important” than the “first” feast/16th that was held on the 16th ( Why?) because it was from “this feast” that the 50th day is reckoned which consists of seven sevens plus one which equals 50 which means Pentecost. (How much plainer can it get?????)

This 2nd feast that is more important than the 1st feast, or 16th, is the morrow after the seventh Sabbath complete and is the day that people are keeping for the traditional Pentecost, but according to chapter 30 above it is the feast that is “greater” than that of the “wave sheaf” feast because the 50th day is reckoned from it, (the greater feast) and Pentecost is the “GREATEST” feast. This is in harmony with Lev-23 where it says “even unto the morrow AFTER the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days and then bring a new meat offering”.
Now to show a living EXAMPLE where it was done as described above and where Pentecost was kept 50 days “after” the seventh Sabbath complete.
Quoting from Philo page 704, chapter eight (65) ON THE CONTEMPLATIVE LIFE V111 (65) we read about a group of Orthodox Jews called Therapeutae and Therapeutrides, Philo says, “they devoted their whole lives and themselves to the knowledge in contemplation of the affairs of nature in accordance with the most sacred admonitions and “precepts of the Prophet Moses.” V111 (64) after saying this he continues by saying,

“(65) In the first place, these men “assemble” at the “end” of seven weeks, venerating not only the simple week of seven days, but also its multiplied power, for they know it to be pure and always virgin; and “it” is “a “prelude” and a kind of “forefeast” of the “greatest” feast, which is assigned to the number fifty,”
We have went from the wave sheaf feast that was on the 16th of Aviv to a “greater feast” that was on the morrow AFTER the 7th Sabbath complete to the “GREAST” feast/Pentecost.

Acording to Philo, there were 2 feasts before Pentecost and both were called preludes or introductions to another feast, the 1st one was the 16th (wave sheaf) which introduced the second feast which was the morrow after the seventh Sabbath complete and it was of greater importance than the 1st because from it the “GREATEST” feast Pentecost was reckoned, and according to Philo, the 2nd feast ( the one after the seventh Sabbath complete) was a kind of “fore feast” of the GREATEST feast/Pentecost that took place 50 days later.
This “prelude” and a kind of “fore feast” is speaking of the morrow “after” the seventh Sabbath complete, it is “not” Pentecost which takes place 50 days from “it”. This forefeast was not Pentecost it is the feast that people are keeping for Pentecost today but in our Saviour’s time these Orthodox Jews kept it as a prelude to the greatest feast/Pentecost which took place on the 50th day from their.

Remember the 16th, when the wave sheaf is offered, is a prelude to another festival that takes place on the morrow after the 7th Sabbath, and is of greater importance than the 16th itself because it is from this day that the 50th day is reckoned. He is not talking about the 50th day of Pentecost here, but the day the 50th day is recond from, ever one know that Pentecost is “greater” than the 16th, he is speaking of the morrow after the 7th Sabbath when the numbering to the 50 day begins and it is also a “prelude” to Pentecost, same as the 16th/feast was a prelude to the morrow after the seventh Sabbath, and we have record where Philo speaks of men keeping this second feast as a preludeand kind of forfeast to the “GREATEST” FEAST i.e. Pentecost, in other words this second feast was greater than the first feast/wave sheaf on the 16th but it was not the GREATEST feast/Pentecost which took place 50 days later.

Now to prove my interpretation of Philo is correct, I will let Philo interpret Philo, the same as I let Scripture interpret Scripture.

I will now quote from Colson’s Translation of Philo to prove what I am saying is correct. Quoting from the special Laws,11 Chapter 30,
“The “festival” of the sheaf, which has all these grounds of precedence, indicated in the Law, is also in fact, anticipatory of another “greater feast” For it is “from it” that the 50th day is reckoned, by counting seven sevens, which are then “crowned” with the “sacred number” by the monad, which is spent in corporal image of YHWH,”
In speaking of the “greater feast”, Philo says, “for it is “from it” that the 50th day is reckoned,” (how is the reckoned???? by counting seven sevens, which are then crowned with the sacred number by the monad/one which is spent in the corporal image of YHWH. How much plainer could Philo have made it?
The morrow after the 7th Sabbath, is the feast of greater importance than the 16th or wave sheaf that Philo spoke of because it is a prelude or kind of forfeast to the GREATEST feast i.e. Pentecost. Same as the 16th or wave sheaf was a prelude to the 2nd feast or morrow after the seventh Sabbath.

Bottom line is that in Philo’s day and in Aaron’s day, the feast of Pentecost/50th day was numbered from the morrow “after” the seventh Sabbath complete as Leviticus 23 teaches.

DID YOU KNOW IT IS A MATHEMATICAL CERTAINTY THAT APOSTLE PAUL AND THOUSANDS OF BELIEVING JEWS KEPT PENTECOST “BEYOND” THE TRADITIONAL 50 DAY COUNT???

The following will conclusively show that the Apostle Paul only had EIGHT TRAVELING DAYS to travel 1000 mi. in order to keep the traditional Pentecost at Jerusalem and they were only averaging 30 mi. per day. This makes it an impossibility for the traditional Pentecost.

We can actually show that with the traditional Pentecost count, Paul only had 8 travel days in which to travel 1000 mi.,which would be an average of 125 mi. per day and about 100 of these miles were on foot, half of which, with animals and an old disciple from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

This kills the traditional Pentecost theory because they only traveled 150 mi. in five days from Philippi to Troas, and this by ship, which is an average of 30 mi. per day. After this, the Scripture shows about seven more examples where they were still only averaging about 30 mi. per day for the first 500 mi.

This can be verified by reading Acts 20:13 through 17 and measuring the distance between these cities with the map in the back of most Bibles and comparing the days with the mile.

This gives us a scriptural precedence of how many miles they average per day by ship, which was the fastest means of travel of that day.

If the above statement about the eight travel days and the 1000 mi. can be proven, which I will do shortly, it makes the traditional Pentecost impossible. The Consider this, five of the eight days, from Philippi to Troas, are already gone, and this leaves only THREE days to travel the other 820 mi. This means they would have to average 273 1/3 miles per day.And as I said above, some of these miles would be on foot.

Did Paul and company average 273 1/3 miles per day or 820 mi. in three days? Absolutely not because they only averaged about 30 mi. per day for the 1st 500 mi. and this alone should make the honest truth seeker take another look at Leviticus 23:16 and number the 50 days AFTER the seventh Sabbath instead of the wave sheaf, and that would give them another 50 days in order to have enough time to reach Jerusalem and keep the Pentecost that Paul and the thousands of Jews were keeping. If they used two more of the remaining three days in order to go another 60 mi., this would leave another 760 mi. and only one day to travel it.

The reason Paul only had eight travel days with the traditional count is because the Scripture records at least 42 days that there was no travel for the Apostle Paul and company, and this is not even counting some of the seven weekly Sabbaths that would have fallen during this time. When we subtract 42 from 50 it leaves only “eight days” to make the 1000 mi. journey.

Here’s how I come up with 42 no travel days to Pentecost. I will also show how that Paul was ahead of schedule and had arrived at Jerusalem at least 10 days before Pentecost which leaves only 40 days with the traditional count but first let’s start at Philippi.

They were not traveling during the seven days of Unleavened Bread at Philippi and for those that begin the 50 day count to Pentecost from the 16th of the first month, this would account for six of the no travel days, assuming they left the very next day after Unleavened Bread.

The Scripture says they sailed away from Philippi AFTER the days of unleavened bread and came unto them in Troas inFIVE DAYS, where they abode SEVEN DAYS. This would account for another seven days of no travel, a total of 13 NO TRAVEL DAYS.

Paul sailed by Ephesus to Miletus and sent for the elders of Ephesus to come down to Miletus and if he immediately sent a runner, it would have taken at least THREE DAYS to go up and find the elders and bring them back down to Miletus where they had a meeting. Verse 17.

At any rate, when looking at the map, three days is not unreasonable when counting the trip up, notifying the elders, and then back and then the meeting itself. This is a total of 16 days that they were NOT traveling.

They tarried SEVEN MORE DAYS at Tyre, Acts 21:4, a total of 23 NO TRAVEL DAYS. They left Tyre and abode ONE-DAY with brethren in verse seven a total of 24 NO TRAVEL DAYS. They left the brethren and came unto Caesarea and they tarried there MANY DAYS. It is obvious that they made good time finding ships, etc. so they were now ahead of schedule.

I will be very generous and only count EIGHT DAYS at Caesarea.  I’m not going to pretend that I believe it was only 8 days because we find the word “many” used by the same author of acts and it usually would not be understood to mean less than 40. He uses such phrases as MANY WORDS, and we would not think that this would be eight words. He uses the phraseMANY DAYS, when referring to the Messiah being seen of them “MANY DAYS” and in another place, speaking of the same event, it says, being seen of them 40 DAYS. Another place speaks of being beaten with MANY STRIPES and another place says 40 stripes save one. So we see the phrase “many” being equal to 40 etc.

The phrase MANY THOUSANDS is also used and when we look at the phrase many stripes, many days, and many words, many thousands, they all refer to more than eight, therefore allowing only eight days is being very generous to say the least. Luke could remember as high as seven days twice, five days once etc. I am sure he could have remembered eight days and by him saying many days, I tend to believe it was more than 15 or 20, or at least enough days that he could not remember, probably 39 or 40 and therefore he said MANY DAYS because they were so many that he did not remember. At any rate, even with allowing only eight days, this still brings us to a total of 32 days that Paul was NOT TRAVELING.

The scriptural evidence shows they arrived in Jerusalem at least 10 days before Pentecost. There are no indicators to indicate that they arrived at Jerusalem just-in-time for Pentecost. It says that when they reached Jerusalem the brethren received them gladly and the NEXT DAY (This adds one more day of no travel, a total of 33 days) they went in unto James and the elders who informed them that there were THOUSANDS of believing Jews that would here that he had come up to the feast and advised him to PURIFY himself with four men that had a vow on them in order to show that he was a Law keeper and this he did the NEXT DAY, a total of 34 no travel days.

NOTICE: some might try to say that this was Pentecost but the Scripture does not read that way and why purify himself for seven days AFTER Pentecost was over, to show them anything because the multitudes would be left for their journey home by then. Purifying is done BEFORE a feast as it says in John 11:55. The truth of the matter is that Paul arrived in plenty of time to purify himself with these men and the Scripture teaches that Pentecost had not occurred as of yet. Continuing on,

Then when seven days was almost finished, some Jews from Asia, (acts 21:27) who had came up for the feast, discover Paul in the temple and stirred up the MULTITUDE that had gathered in for Pentecost, so I will add another SIX DAYS to the 34 no travel days bringing us to a total of 40 NO TRAVELING DAYS and is still not Pentecost.

NOTICE: another indicator that Pentecost was not yet is because of the Jews from Asia, which was about 600 mi. away, were still there and so was the crowd or multitude that they stirred up.

If you read Acts -21:27 through 24:19 you will find the other two days that Paul was in custody brings the total to 42 DAYS OF NO TRAVELING before the traditional Pentecost, leaving only EIGHT TRAVEL DAYS from Philippi to Jerusalem. At 30 mi. per day, they would need 30 travel days to travel 900 miles and the scripture teaches they did NOT have them.

Pentecost had not taken place until after Paul had been arrested and taken to Caesarea where the priest came down AFTER FIVE DAYS and the Jews from Asia didn’t even show up, they probably had started their 600 mi. journey back home after Pentecost. Paul was a Roman citizen and they would not hold him any longer than necessary without allowing him to face his accusers. It is not a five-day journey from Jerusalem to Caesarea and I believe that as soon as Pentecost and the new moon day was over the priest went down to accuse Paul. The Scripture just does not read or indicate that Pentecost was going on before Paul’s arrest or before purification.

All of the indicators suggest that Pentecost took place after Paul was taken to Caesarea and this explains the five days before the priest came down to accuse Paul. The Jews from Asia and the other multitudes of people that had come up early would have left after Pentecost was over, same as people do today, not hanging around another seven or eight days after Pentecost,. You will see other indicators when you read it for yourself, with an unbiased mind of course.

Also remember that even without the extra days at Jerusalem before Pentecost, it still won’t do away with the fact that he could not have made it for the traditional Pentecost, even for those who count from the traditional Sabbath that falls within the days of unleavened bread.

Paul did not wait at Caesarea for many days and then leave so late as to arrive at Pentecost just in the neck of time. The following will show that many Jews went up early for the three major feasts.

Paul was no less zealous than the Jews who had already gathered at Jerusalem and did not leave in just enough time to barely get there for service, like some preachers today. The Historian Josephus even tells how they went up seven days early to purify themselves BEFORE the feast of Unleavened Bread.

In Josephus wars of the Jews pg. 742 Ch 5- (290) “when the people were come in great crowds to the feast of unleavened bread, on the EIGHTH DAY of the month Xanthicus [Nisan],” The foot note “e” in Josephus says that a week before Passover they went up to Jerusalem to PURIFY themselves, John 11:55 agrees with Josephus, quote:

We know that great crowds had gathered for Pentecost when James told Paul, “see how many thousands of Jews that believe” and we read a scriptural account of this in John.

John 11:55

“And the Jews’ Passover was nigh at hand: and MANY went out of the country up to Jerusalem BEFORE the Passover, toPURIFY themselves”

This verse proves my point about the many zealous Jews that went up before these feasts. I believe the many that went up before the feast were the devout Jews who were zealous of the LAW and we know that Pentecost commemorates the giving of the law or at least we can prove the law was given on the day that they called a Chag/Pentecost, which was 50 days AFTER the 7th Sabbath. Ex-32:5

Here’s another scripture in John which shows early arrivals for the major feasts.

John 12:1 is also in agreement with Josephus. “1Then our Saviour six days BEFORE the Passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2There they made him a supper;

Also remember how He went in and out of the temple and back and forth to Bethany each day before they took Him on the 14th? These Historical quotes from Josephus and Scripture prove that the Jews normally went up to Jerusalem before Pentecost and that’s partly why James said that they were zealous toward the Law, (Pentecost) and that is why they went up early.

Paul was no less devout than these Jews and besides, it had been many years since he had last been up to Jerusalem and he said he must by all means keep this feast that cometh up at Jerusalem. This statement shows that Paul was not going up just to be on time for Pentecost, but to witness and fellowship with the brethren, before Pentecost and the fact that he abode MANY DAYS at Philips house in Caesarea shows that he was ahead of schedule and that he had plenty of time to arrive at Jerusalem a week or two before Pentecost to accomplish his intent.

Paul desired to keep Pentecost at Jerusalem, if possible. The reason Paul said, if possible, is because the catching of ships was uncertain, not to mention the possibility of unfavorable winds and other delays that might occur, and having to depend on someone else. But having reached Tyre and Caesarea, it is evident that Paul had a prosperous journey and had found ship’s without having to wait too long and they had favorable winds etc. because the Scripture shows that he was well ahead of schedule because he stayed seven days at Tyre and many days at Caesarea and this he would not have done, had he not made good time.

The following is those who after finding out that it is mathematically impossible for Paul to have kept the traditional Pentecost, and began hollering that Paul did not make it to Pentecost, instead of rethinking Leviticus 23:16 and number 50 days after the seventh Sabbath, I submit the following which shows he did make it for the intended Pentecost.

Paul was warned, by the Spirit at Tyre not to go up to Jerusalem and again at Caesarea by Agabus the prophet. This not only shows that Paul and company were ahead of schedule on their journey to Jerusalem to keep Pentecost but that they had not broken the journey from Philippi to Jerusalem for Pentecost. This is important to show that they accomplished their desire to make it to Jerusalem for Pentecost but not the traditional Pentecost.

All anyone has to do in order to see that Paul and company were still headed to Jerusalem to keep the SAME Pentecost that they had set out for, after leaving Philippi, is to read the running account in Acts chapter 20 through chapter 21:4 and 21:4 says the disciples at Tyre, through the Spirit, told Paul that he should not go up to Jerusalem. At this point no one would argue that the push for keeping Pentecost in true from had changed.

The next seven versus shows that two or three days later, after receiving this warning, Paul reached Philips house in Caesarea and AGAIN received another warning from Agabus the Prophet, further warning him not to go up to Jerusalem. These warnings against going up to Jerusalem is for the SAME trip and this shows that Paul left Caesarea to keep Pentecost in Jerusalem, as was his intention from Philippi.

Paul made it known Agabus the prophet and everyone that he was going continue his journey and go up to Jerusalem for Pentecost and was willing to die also, if necessary. There is nothing to suggest that Paul and company did not make it toJerusalem in plenty of time for the true Pentecost. Only someone who does not understand that the true Pentecost is 50 days after the seventh Sabbath, with even suggest such a thing, after reading Acts chapters 20 and 21.

The day could NOT begin at sunrise

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

Conclusive Proof the 24hr Day Cannot Begin At Sunrise

Exodus the 16th chapter

The following Scriptures conclusively proves the day could NOT begin at sunrise or YHWH would be guilty of breaking His own Law and teaching His children of Israel to do the same. YHWH is not the minister of Sin? (Law breaking)

Exodus the 16th chapter conclusively pinpoints a weekly Sabbath on the 15th day of the second month after leaving Egypt. “IF” that Sabbath day began at sunrise as some suggest, the children of Israel would have been gathering quail that “evening”, on the weekly Sabbath day, which is a against the Law of YHWH.

Exodus 16:1-13 teaches how YHWH spoke to Moses on the 15th day of the second month, (which is irrefutably proven to be a weekly Sabbath,) telling him that he had heard their murmurings and would give them quail in the “evening” and manna in the morning.

12 “I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At “even” ye shall eat flesh, and in themorning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am YHWH your Elohim.

13And it came to pass, that at “even” the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.”

The reason YHWH waited until evening before giving quail is because the Sabbath day which YHWH sanctified and hallowed at creation would end at evening, and the children would not be gathering the quail in Holy Time.

He would not be delivering Quail on this Holy sanctified Sabbath day for the children of Israel to catch, clean, cook and eat, and therefore the 15th day had to have “ended at evening” or the Creator would have broken His own Law and caused his people to commit sin by delivering the quails on the Holy Sabbath for them to catch, clean, cook and eat. It seems that some people are willing to believe this in order to protect an erroneous understanding of Genesis 1. Is this what you want?

Do you really want to believe that the YHWH was a SINNER and broken His own Law???

Sin is this transgression of the Law and the Law teaches not to do any work on the weekly Sabbath. They were not even allowed to gather manna on the Sabbath, let alone quail.

The sunrise proponents have to believe that quail was given and gathered on the Holy Shabbat and I wont “nothing” to do with a doctrine that forces me to believe such.

The quails arrived that night after the weekly Sabbath was over at evening, and it was on the first day of the week that the children of Israel gathered and ate them between the evenings i.e. the evening that ended the seventh day/15th and the evening that would end the first day of the week/16th. If this be not the case, a very serious death penalty sin had taken place, for them to have done this on the sacred Holy Sabbath day.

If they were not allowed to gather manna on the Holey seventh day, they would not be allowed to gather quail either. “If” the quails were given on the holy Sabbath for the people to clean and eat, then the people that went out to gather manna on the next Sabbath (22nd) could “justifiably” say that they gathered the quails on the previous Sabbath/15th and could truthfully say that gathering manna would not be nearly as bad as gathering quails because you do not have to clean manna as you would a quail.

Of course I don’t believe the quails were gathered on the weekly Sabbath/15 and neither would anyone that did not have a doctrine to protect. As I said before, the quails did not come until the evening which ended the Sabbath day and began the first day of the week and this is what Moses and Aaron says, in verse 6,

6And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that YHWH hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:”….

8And Moses said, This shall be, when YHWH shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full;”

13And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. (The Hebrew word for even and evening in this verse is the same word for evening in Gen-1).

These verses show how that nothing was going to happen until evening, the reasoning for this is the weekly Sabbath would not be over until then. I would ask the question, why wait until evening unless for the reason that the weekly seventh day ended at evening?????

SPICES Disproves Sunrise Theory

The next proof that the day COULD NOT scripturally begin at sunrise is taken from the New Testament and is much like the case in Ex- 16. The women bought spices “after” the Sabbath was over and brought these spices with them to the grave on the first day of the week while it was yet dark (before sunrise) on the same first day of the week.

If the Sabbath was not over until sunrise, how is it possible to bring spices that they bought after the Sabbath was overand bring them (while it is yet dark) on the first day of the week BEFORE sunrise?? Or even at the rising of the sun on the first day of the week?

There would be no time to buy spices after the Seventh day was over and bring them on the first day of the week at sunrise if the day began and ended at sunrise. This is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE . Yet the sunrise proponents must believe this, and it is a real embarrassment to their doctrine.

Instead of burying the truth in a sea of papers and lengthy fair speeches, I will give a few conclusive proofs from Scripture and historical evidence why the day “CAN NOT” begin at sunrise.

The following will show that the Last Supper was eaten on the night of the 14th and we all know that our Saviour was crucified on the day light portion of the 14th and therefore the 14th day had to have begun at evening.

He ate the last supper on the day that the lambs are to be slain (Luke 22:7-71 and Mark 14:12-17) and we know from the Old Testament Scriptures that the lambs are slain on the 14th and both Luke and Mark teaches that they came together at evening on the day that thePassover lambs are slain therefore they had to have came together on the night that began the 14th, because the 14th is the day that the lambs are slain, and he died during the day light portion of the same 14th and according to this the Scriptural day begins at evening.

The Scripture teaches that the first day of unleavened bread is on the 15th day of the first month (Leviticus 23:6) and continues for seven days (Exodus 12:15). The Scripture teaches that these seven days shall be observed from the 14th day at evening until the 21st day at evening(Exodus 12:17-18).

Notice that it is conclusive that the 15th which is first of these seven days begins on the 14th day at evening.

I would like to point out that “if”the first day of unleavened bread “is” on the 15th and the 15th begins on the 14th day at evening, then by default and by deductive reasoning, the “14th day” would begin on the “13th day” at evening, and this chain reaction or domino effect will go all the way back to creation. This is an absolute and the following will prove it. Side note, the same applies to the Day of Atonement.

It is easy to say things like this, but I will prove from Scripture that the 14th day began on the 13th day at evening, same as I have proven from Scripture that the 15th day began on the 14th day at evening.

Our Saviour ate the Last Supper on the 14th, and then was crucified on the same 14th after sunrise during the daylight, and this could only happened if the day began at evening, therefore the 24-hour day CAN NOT began at sunrise if the Last Supper was eaten at the end of the 13th (at evening) which is the beginning of the 14th BECAUSE He was crucified on the “SAME” 14th during the day. i.e. If the 24-hour day does not begin until sunrise, how could He have ate the last supper at evening on the 14th “before sunrise”and died around three o’clock on the same 14th after sunrise???

The following Scriptures will prove that He ate this last meal on the 14th at evening on the day that the lambs are be slain. The Last Supper was at the beginning of the 14th and most everyone agrees that He was crucified on the 14th which is the preparation day and the Sabbath (15th) drew on.

We know from Mark and Luke that the supper took place at the beginning of the 14th , which is after the 13th day at evening, because it says in Mark 14:17-18, “and in the evening He cometh with the twelve. And as they sat and did eat”

Notice this would have to be at the end of the 13th day at evening which is the beginning of the 14th because it says in Luke 22:7 “then came the day of unleavened bread when the Passover must be killed” and we know the Passover is killed on the 14th therefore they had to have ate the Last Supper on the beginning of the 14th day which is the same day that the lambs are to be killed.

Mark 14:12 reads “and the first day of unleavened bread when they killed the Passover.” We know from Scripture that the Passover lambs are killed on the 14th and eaten that night/15th with unleavened bread and the 15th began on the 14th day at evening and as I have shown and will show that the 14th began on the 13th day at evening, same as the 15th began on the 14th day at evening.

Some say the word “first” in Mark 14:12 can and should have been translated “before” and then the verse would read “before the first day of unleavened bread when they killed the Passover” but it is not my intent to deal with the seemingly contradictions here but to show that they ate the Last Supper at the beginning of the 14th which actually begun on the 13th day at evening, same as the 15th day actually begun on the 14th day at evening at evening which is the first day of the seven days of unleavened bread.

SUMMARY

Most people correctly acknowledge that the 7 days of Unleavened Bread begins and ends at evening i.e. from the14th day at evening UNTIL the 21st day at evening, the 7 days ENDS at evening, and above I have demonstrated how the “day before” the 7 days of Unleavened Bread “also” began and ended at evening and this domino effect would go all the way back to creation, by using deductive reasoning. i.e. if the seven days of unleavened bread begins and ends at evening and the day before the seven days of unleavened bread begins and ends at evening then by default the other days follow suit all the way back to creation where He said the evening and the morning were the first day or there was evening and there was morning day one.

I also demonstrated how our Saviour ate the last supper on the evening of the 14th and was crucified on the morning of the same 14th, which is in perfect harmony with creation which says there was evening and there was morning day one. Now I will move on to some abominations that those who accept the sunrise theory must be involved in.

You can not even have a 3rd day resurrection with the sunrise theory and the Scripture clearly teaches He must rise the third day.

Here is something to consider for those who believe the day begins at sunrise or only begins in the morning and consists only of 12 hours. We agree that one definition (the narrow) of the word “day” consists of only 12 hours, but when this same word is studied in different contexts in the totality of Scripture we see it can have several meanings.

Our Messiah died on the 14th of Aviv, the same day the Passover lambs had been slaughtered for centuries prior to his death. For those who reckon the day from sunrise to sunrise, the Messiah died on the 14th of Aviv and then the evening of the 14th came afterwards, with the weekly Sabbath beginning the morning of the 15th at sunrise. This poses a serious problem when it comes to the resurrection day of the Messiah. If the 1st day of the week will not begin until the sunrise of the 16th of Aviv, and then the Messiah would have resurrected BEFORE sunrise on the SECOND day, instead of the 3rd day.

All the gospel accounts agree that when the women came to the tomb it was very early in the morning, and the gospel according to John (20th chapter) tells us this occurred “while it was yet dark” (KJV). How can it be then that the Messiah rose the 3RD DAY ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES if He rose before the 3rd day began????

The day of his death (14th) would be day one, and the day of the Sabbath (15th) would be day two, and day three would not begin until sunrise of the 16th for the sunrise to sunrise proponents. This means it is an impossibility for this theology to align its understanding with what the Bible teaches about the third day resurrection predicted by the Messiah himself over 10 times and corroborated by the Apostle Shaul in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

This is not to mention that this teaching also has the Messiah rising on the Sabbath, rather than the 1st day of the week; a teaching that shows similarity with 72 hour proponents. The Scriptures make it very clear that the sheaf of first-fruits (barley) was to be waved on the MORROW AFTER THE SABBATH (Lev. 23:10-16), and NOT on the Sabbath itself. A sunrise to sunrise view has our Messiah resurrected on the Sabbath (2nd day) instead of the morrow after the Sabbath (3rd day) as the Scripture teaches.

In closing, we must also mention that for those espousing a 12 hour Sabbath, one which begins at morning and ends at dusk, has the Messiah rising on a NON-DAY, during the night. This teaching has the Messiah not rising on the Sabbath OR the first day of the week (the 3rd day, 16th), but on what they consider to not be a day at all. The 12 noon people have the same problems.

The Scriptures will all harmonize if we can only see that the word “day” in Scripture has a broader definition, and not only one narrow definition of the daylight hours. With an evening to evening day, which the Bible clearly teaches (Gen. 1:5;Ex. 12:17; Lev. 23:32) the Messiah can be impaled on the 14th, rest on the Sabbath for the entire 15th day, and as the next day begins (the evening of the 16th) he resurrects (ready to work) before morning, but yet still on the 3rd day – according to the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:1-4) – on the morrow after the Sabbath (Lev. 23:10-16).

PS. Some may object to our line of reasoning by saying that the Messiah resurrected the split second the daylight hours began on the 16th, but this is unsound for the following reason(s). All four gospel accounts agree that the women came to the tomb very early in the morning, with John’s gospel elaborating a bit further that this was while it was yet dark, and another says, as it began to dawn toward the 1st day of the week. All gospel accounts show that the women were amazed that he was not there, and as the angelic messenger(s) proclaimed “HE IS NOT HERE, HE HAS RISEN.” This proves beyond doubt that our Messiah had already risen prior to the daylight hours, but yet, as noted above, this was still on the 3rd day according to the evening to evening view, but the 2nd day according to the sunrise or 12 noon view.

We see from the above that the sunrise proponents can NOT have a third day resurrection and this alone kills the sunrise doctrine.

Numbers 19:16 teaches that a man that touches a dead body shall be unclean for SEVEN DAYS and in verse 19 it teaches the seventh dayENDED at evening, therefore all the seven 24-hour days ended at evening. These seven days were obviously 24-hour day periods.

Verse 19 says “and on the SEVENTH DAY he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be CLEAN at even.”

RESPONSE; “if” the seventh day ended at sunrise as some suggest, instead of evening, that would only be 6 and 1/2 days of being unclean instead of seven days. You would be a half-day short, disobeying scripture, but if the seventh day ended at evening when the man was made CLEAN, it would be a full seven days of being UNCLEAN as verse 19 teaches. This alone disapproves the day beginning at sunrise theory.

Remember the man was made clean at evening of the full seventh day, according to scripture, not sun rise.
Verse 16 specifically says that the man shall be unclean for SEVEN DAYS and if the seven days did not end until sunrise, then the man WOULD NOT be unclean for seven days as the Scripture teaches.

Guinness 8:3 says that it was the END of the hundred and 50 days that the waters were abated and verse 11 says that the Dove came to Noah in the EVENING and then he knew that the waters had abated off the face of the earth. These hundred and 50 days were 24-hour day periods that ended at evening when the Dove returned.

In the book of Judges Chapter 14:12 Sampson made a bet with some men, that they could not answer his riddle WITHIN a period ofSEVEN DAYS. In verse 18 the riddle was answered WITHIN the seven-day period. Verse 18 says, “and the men of the city said unto himon the SEVENTH DAY “BEFORE” the sun went down,” (they answered the riddle before sundown on the seventh day)

Why was the phrase “BEFORE the sun went down” used, unless it emphasized that the time would have been up at sundown, but they answered it before the seventh day ended. I.e. it ended the seven days that were allotted to answer the riddle?

We all know that any bet such as the one above has to have a “DEADLINE” as to when the time is up and according to the conditions of verse 12, they had to answer it out WITHIN the seven-day period.

The above is like saying, in today’s speech, “and the men of the city said unto him on the SEVENTH DAY “BEFORE” 12 midnight,”

The reason for this is because in today’s speech the day ends at 12 midnight and back then, they used sundown to end the day instead of 12 midnight.

They did not have to add “before the sun went down”, they could have just said they answered it WITHIN the seven day period. They were merely stressing that the Riddle was answered before the seven days were up, at sundown. When you coupled this with Numbers 19:16-19, and the many other scriptures that conclusively proves the 24-hour day cannot scripturally began at morning, we should not waste each others time discussing something like this.

“Historical Evidence”

Another way to find the truth as to how the Jews of our Saviors day understood when a day begins and ends is to go to someone that was there. We should not accept “modern” history but when you go back to the time of the Messiah and read the writings of those that lived in that day, it gives us an understanding of how the writers and those who read the writings understood things.

The following Historical evidence teaches the seventh day ended at evening/night.

Josephus writes in

WARS OF THE JEWS book 4 CHAPTER 9 (582)

THAT VESPASIAN, AFTER HE HAD TAKEN GADARA, MADE PREPARATION FOR THE SIEGE OF JERUSALEM; BUT THAT, UPON HIS HEARING OF THE DEATH OF NERO, HE CHANGED HIS INTENTIONS; AS ALSO, CONCERNING SIMON OF GERASA

“(580) but having the advantage of situation, and having withal erected four very large towers aforehand, that their darts might come from higher places, (581) one at the northeast corner of the court, one above the Xystus, the third at another corner over against the lower city, (582) and the last was erected above the top of the Pastophoria, where one of the priests stood of course, and gave a signal beforehand, with a trumpet, at the “beginning” of every seventh day, in the “evening twilight,” as also at the “evening” when the “day was finished,” as giving notice to the people when they were to “leave off work,” and when they were to go to “work again.” (583) These men also set their engines to cast darts and stones withal, upon those towers, with their archers and slingers.”

In the above Josephus is saying that the trumpet was blown at evening which is the beginning of every seventh day and at the evening at the end of every seventh day for the people to go back to work again. Remember Josephus is writing this during the time of the destruction of theTemple when the priesthood was still active and the Temple still standing which conclusively proves the Jews at this time understood the day begins and ends at evening and the day consisted of 24 hours. I know the sunrise proponents will not like this because it does not leave them any wiggle room at all.

Even The Dead Sea Scrolls proves the day begins at “sunset”

To prove day ends at evening and the weeks were originally connected to the moon we read fragments of lunar days 4 through 25 which were uncovered at Qumran describing the moon’s appearance and movements in relation to the sun and the ancient weeks, it also reveals how they under stood when a day begins. Wise, Abegg and Cooke, in their book The Dead Sea Scrolls, A New Translation, translate the fragment for lunar day 8 as follows –
4Q317
“On the eighth of the month [chodesh], the moon rules all the day in the midst of the sky…and when the sun sets, its light ceases to be obscured, and thus the moon begins to be revealed on the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK” (pp. 301-303).

This not only Proves that the 8th of the month was always the 7th day of the week but this is conclusive evidence from the Dead Sea Scrolls that the “9th” day of each month is the first day of the week and begins at “sun set”. This is an absolute when using deductive reasoning.”

The scroll teaches it is the 8th day before sunset and when the sun sets it begins the 9th at sunset. This proves they understood the day passes from the 8th day to the 9th day at sunset, NOT sunrise. Remember all this is in harmony with the scriptures I gave above.

We also have eyewitness from Philo the Jew who actually lived at the same time our Saviour did. In his writings Philo spoke very highly of a group of Orthodox Jews, referring to them as the disciples of Mosesand how they had forsaken all, and devoted their whole lives following the law of Moses and even stated that they could not be deceived.

ON THE CONTEMPLATIVE LIFE Chapter V11-(63) … through Chapter V111 (65) page 704. We read,

“but they are despised by the disciples of Moses, who in the abundance of their wisdom have learnt from their earliest infancy to love truth, and also continue to the end of their lives impossible to be deceived.

VIII. (64) But since the entertainments of the greatest celebrity are full of such trifling and folly, bearing conviction in themselves, if any one should think fit not to regard vague opinion and the character which has been commonly handed down concerning them as feasts which have gone off with the most eminent success, I will oppose to them the entertainments of those persons who have devoted their whole life and themselves to the knowledge and contemplation of the affairs of nature in accordance with the most sacred admonitions and precepts of the prophet Moses.

(65) In the first place, these men assemble at the “end “ of seven weeks, venerating not only the simple week of seven days, but also its multiplied power, for they know it to be pure and always virgin; and it is a prelude and a kind of forefeast of the greatest feast, which is assigned to the number fifty, the most holy and natural of numbers, being compounded of the power of the right-angled triangle, which is the principle of the origination and condition of the whole

.

(66) Therefore when they come together clothed in white garments, and joyful with the most exceeding gravity……..(81) And when each individual has finished his psalm, then the young men bring in the table which was mentioned a little while ago, on which was placed that most holy food, the leavened bread, with a seasoning of salt, with which hyssop is mingled, out of reverence for the sacred table, which lies thus in the holy outer temple; for on this table are placed loaves and salt without seasoning, and the bread is unleavened, and the salt unmixed with anything else, (82) for it was becoming that the simplest and purest things should be allotted to the most excellent portion of the priests, as a reward for their ministrations, and that the others should admire similar things, but should abstain from the loaves, in order that those who are the more excellent person may have the precedence.

XI. (83) And after the feast they celebrate the sacred festival during the whole night; and this nocturnal festival is celebrated in the following manner:”

Notice this sacred festival begins at the “end of seven weeks which was at night/evening when the day ends which conclusive proves the Jews of our Savior’s day understood the day ends at evening and another 24-hour space of time begins. I could give many more Scriptures and Historical records that conclusively prove the 24hr day CAN NOT begin at sunrise but this should be enough for the honest hearted and that is who this is for.

The sunrise doctrine is a new doctrine and is not sound because it is not found is Scripture or History, so I will show how they got off and are not thinking this thing through.

First of all the sunrise theory is based on an assumption that on day one when He said

“let there be light”, the light that appeared was the beginning of day one

and the darkness that was upon the earth was not part of the first

24-hour day.  Are they forgetting something?????

When light appeared on one side of the earth whether on day one, day 4,

or day seven and began to move around the earth, would not there still be darkness on the other side of the earth on day one, four, or seven???? i.e. when He began resting on the seventh day, what side of the earth was He speaking from??? If the 7th began at sunrise, did He begin resting at sunrise or at evening???

The earth is the same age on both sides of it and time began on both sides

of the earth at the same time. Someone might say that is not the way it happened, welI lets move on to day four when He appointed two great lights and placed them in the firmament to not only give light on the earth and to divide the light from the darkness but to be for days and years and signs and seasons/appointments, would not one side of the earth be light/day on day four and the other side of the earth be darkness/night on day four at the exact same time??? i.e. at the beginning of day four on one side of the

earth it is light and the beginning the day four on the other side of the earth

it is night, so which side of the earth do you reckoned the 24-hour day

from, evening then morning, or morning then evening???

If someone was standing on the dark side of the earth on day four, they would have 12 hrs of night  first then 12 hrs of day and if someone was standing on the light side of the earth on day four, they would have 12 hrs of day first then 12 hrs of night. i.e. one side of the earth has it’s fourth day

of night/evening BEFORE it has it’s fourth day of light/morning and the

other side of the earth has it’s fourth day of light/morning before it has it’s fourth day of night/darkness unless you count the darkness that was here before he said let there be light.  But some will say you cannot count that darkness but I will show, and have shown conclusive evidence from Scripture where Moses could have counted it as part of day one.

It is day four on both sides of the earth because the earth is the same age

on both sides and yet it is light on one side and dark on the other

Is there any evidence as to which side of the earth the creation is taken place from or from what perspective did the writer of Genesis view this?

I believe there is evidence that YHWH was speaking from a westward perspective of the earth when he said let there be light and if the light came from an eastward direction headed west around to where He was speaking from, the sun could set in the west 12 hours later, then the west would began receiving its light on the first day, after 12 hours of darkness/evening had passed, and you would have evening then morning on that side of the earth.

There is evidence to support that YHWH’s creative speaking was from a westward perspective and the creation took place from a westward perspective because it teaches in Genesis 2:8 that the man was created westward of the Garden of Eden and he was carried eastward and placed

in it.

“ And the YHWH God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. “
Notice that the Garden was planted eastward of where YHWH had formed Adam and He placed the man there.  This seems to indicate that the man and YHWH was westward of the Garden of Eden and if the sun originally appeared in the East at creation when he said let there be light, then the west would have had 12 hours of darkness/evening before they received any light.

This is only one possibility and shows there are other ways of looking at Gen-1 and when looked at in this way it lines up with Ex-16, The Spices, the third day resurrection, last Supper and MANY more Scriptures, not to mention the Historical evidence and The Dead Sea Scrolls that shows how it was done in our Saviour’s day.

The Prophet Moses, in Exodus 20:11 when he says “for in six days YHWH made “heaven” and earth, “the sea”, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:”

Notice “heaven” is included in the six days therefore the darkness/night that came before the light/day is counted as part of the first day of the six days.

When the Spirit moved on the face of the water, it was “AFTER” heaven and earth was created in darkness, therefore heaven is counted in the six days that Moses spoke of, therefore the darkness that was on the face of the deep was counted in the six day time period and this conclusively proves the 24-hour day begins at evening/darkness.

The following conclusively proves that in each 24 hr day, the EVENING came BEFORE the sunrise/morning.

1In the beginning YHWH created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of YHWH moved upon the face of the waters.

Notice that when heaven and earth was created it became three things, it became without form and void with darkness upon the face of the deep.

3And YHWH said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And YHWH saw the light, that it was good: and YHWH divided the light from the darkness.
Notice the darkness that the light is divided from is the darkness that was here before the light, not some future darkness as some suggest.

5And YHWH called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. (24hr period)

Notice that the darkness that he called night is the “same” darkness that was here “before” the light that he called day and therefore it became night BEFORE it became light, in the day that YHWH created the heavens and earth and the process is repeated up unto this day in which we live.  And when Moses is giving the account of creation and looking back and says it became evening and it became morning day one, he is referring to the 12 hrs of evening darkness that came before the 12 hrs of light came, not some darkness that came after the light.

In order to get a sunrise to sunrise day, you must “ignore” the darkness that he called night and refuse to believe that it was here before the light and this is vital to the sunrise theor, that the darkness that was here before He said let there be light was not part of the first day.  But they are so many Scriptures that disprove the sunrise theory, as all the above show.

In closing I would like to say that anyone who keeps the day from sunrise to sunrise instead of evening to evening is justice as guilty of breaking the weekly Sabbath as the people who keeps Saturday or Sunday.

Another thing is if the day began at sunrise at creation, and ever one observes it from sunrise to sunrise up to the time of the Messiah, when did the Jews begin keeping it from evening to evening???  All of the New Testament scriptures show that the Messiah observed the same Sabbath as did the Jews and the Jews observe the same evening to evening as they do today unless someone can show where they changed.

If the Messiah observed a sunrise to sunrise 24 hour day, then He would have been on a differed day than those who began the 24 hour day the following evening, assuming everyone understood the day originally began at sunrise in creation but now they start the day at evening.

For the lunar Sabbatarians that followed the sunrise doctrine and the conjunction happens at evening, then their first day of that new month will begin at sunrise but those of us that believe the day begins at evening will be a day later and if this were the case during the time the Messiah, the Jews would have been on a differed day but we know from Scripture that this is not so because they all observed the same Sabbath.

There is no Historical record of a change from the Messiah to the Jews today.  If there is no record of a change from sunrise to evening, from the Messiah to the Jews today, that means the Messiah observed evening to evening or else they would have had two differed Sabbaths and according to the New Testament that is not the case.

Paul did not keep the third month Pentecost

http://lunarsabbath.us/_wsn/page9.html you will be amazed.

DOING THE MATH MATHEMATICALLY PROVES PAUL KEPT PENTECOST BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL 50 DAY COUNT TO PENTECOST IN THE THIRD MONTH

This chapter will show that the apostle Paul did not keep the third month Pentecost because it shows him keeping Pentecost beyond the traditional 50 day count and not only Paul but thousands of believing Jews were also keeping Pentecost beyond the traditional 50 day count, talk about two or three witnesses! http://lunarsabbath.us/_wsn/page9.html really exposes the counterfit Pentecost. Now to the math.

We have Scripture that shows that Paul left Philippi after the days of unleavened bread and then travels to Jerusalem to keep Pentecost. It is approximately 1000 mi. from Philippi to Jerusalem and Paul has 50 days to be at the end of the 1000 mi. journey but he only has 18 days or less in which to travel the 1000 mi. according to the traditional Pentecost count.

I contend that it is IMPOSSIBLE for Paul to have traveled that distance in 18 days. You might ask, why 18 days or less, did he not have 50 days to make the trip to Jerusalem in time for Pentecost? The answer is yes, he had 50 days to make the journey but according to Scripture he only had 18 days of travel time because of the pinpointed days they were not traveling.

The Scripture clearly shows that there were at LEAST 32 of the 50 days where Paul was not traveling, and this leaves only 18 travel days to cover a distance of 1000 mi. Can it be done? Not with the traditional third month Pentecost count.

When you divided 18 days into 1000 miles you quickly see they would have had to average a little over 51 miles per day and when we read the Scriptures we see that they did not averaged 51mi. per day, as I will show later. About 100 of these miles were across land on foot. i.e. After they landed in Tyre, they wenet about 30 mi. from Tyre to Ptolemais and then on foot about 40mi. from Ptolemais to Caesarea and about 70 mi. from Caesarea to Jerusalem, totaling 110 mi.

We will now count the conclusive no travel days found in Chapter 20 and 21 of the book of Acts which conclusively proves Paul only had 18 days or less to travel the 1000 mi., I will explain the or less later.

For those that count the 50 days to Pentecost from the 16th of the first month/ABIB, when Paul sailed away from Philippi until he arrived at Jerusalem, I found that at least 32 of the 50 days were not traveling days, which were the six days of Unleavened Bread, 16th through the 21st, Acts 20:6, the seven days they abode at Troas, Acts 20:6, and at least three days at Miletus while sending up to Ephesus, which was over 20 mi. one way, Acts 20:17, and they also tarried seven days with disciples in Acts 21:4 and then abode one day with some brethern in verse seven of the same chapter for a total of 24 days, there are more but for simplicity and easy figuring, this will suffice enough to MATHEMATICALLY show the impossibility of a third month Pentecost.

The reason I say this is because the Apostle Luke records that they tarried MANY DAYS in Acts 21:10 and if we allow many days to mean as little as eight days, this brings us to 32 no travel days, not counting any of the weekly Sabbath no travel days, and there would be at least 3 that are not acounted for.

One Brother tried to claim that we should understand the many days as seven days, which still would still not help him in the traditional count, as you will soon see. Luke had already used the term seven days twice in the text and would have used it hear it that had been the case. Then the same brother claimed that Luke had forgotten how many days it was that they stayed at Caesarea and my answer to that was, the reason he had forgotten is because it was more than seven because we know that he remembered tarrying seven days at two different places and I can see how that if they had stayed at Caesarea 16 or 23, or even 39 etc. then Luke would not have remembered exactly how many days it was, but he would have remembered if it had been seven or less. There is one thing that we do know for sure, and that is that he remembered it was MANY DAYS“, he did remember that much. I think I am being more than generous by only allowing eight days to represent the phrase many days and that is why I say that there were AT LEAST 32 no travel days.

I am not so arrogant as to say that I know exactly how many days they tarried at Caesarea but neither am I so naïve as to believe it was only seven days or less as the brother suggested. Just think if I claimed they tarried 14 days as one commentary suggests, this would take six more days off of the 18 travel days, leaving only 12 days to travel the required 1000 mi. that would be about 90 mi. per day, creating an even greater embarrassment to the traditional Pentecost keepers who count 50 days from the wave sheaf instead of 50 days AFTER the seventh Sabbath complete as prescribed in Leviticus 23:16.

The timing of Shaul’s stopovers from Troas to Caesarea had been largely dependent on the shipping schedules. But having disembarked at Caesarea, he could arrange his own schedule. For a man in a hurry to get to Jerusalem, this delay of several days (perhaps up to two weeks)seems strange”

The reason it seem strange to this commentary is because they have been conditioned to think the 50 days are counted from the wave sheaf instead of 50 days after the seventh Sabbath. The reason he said up to two weeks shows that he believes Pentecost is 50 days after the wave sheaf. Paul did not break his journey, but after reaching Caesarea, he is now in control of his schedule and does not have to depend on a ship captain or nature, winds etc. he knows what he can do on foot.

Another commentary says,

“A plain and full prediction of the sufferings of Paul, by a noted prophet,

“2. Agabus the prophet came to Caesarea from Judea; this was he of whom we read before, who came from Jerusalem to Antioch, to foretel a general famine,

Notice this commentary also does not understand why Paul could tarry many days but if they understood the true count to Pentecost they would realize that Paul had a prosperous journey to Caesarea and had rather spend these many days at Caesarea than to get up to Jerusalem over a week or two early.

The Expositor’s Bible Commentary, Vol. 9, p. 517, this phrase in Acts 21:10

Did Paul and his companions, which included an old man and animals, accomplish the 51 mi. per day average? NO! Go to http://lunarsabbath.us/_wsn/page9.htmlfor scriptual PROOF that they only averaged 30 mi. per day.

if this is true and the prophet traveled up to Caesarea, this also indicates a many days say at Caesarea.v. 10 1. Paul and his company tarried many days at Caesarea, perhaps Cornelius was yet living there, and (though Philip lodged them) yet might be many ways kind to them, and induce them to stay there. What cause Paul saw to tarry so long there, and to make so little haste at the latter end of his journey to Jerusalem, when he seemed so much in haste at the beginning of it, we cannot tell; but we are sure he did not stay either there or any where else to be idle; he measured his time by days, and numbered them. ch. 11:27 …… It should seem as if Agabus came on purpose to Caesarea, to meet Paul with this prophetic intelligence. 3. He foretold Paul’s bonds at Jerusalem, (1.) By a sign, as the prophets of old did, Isaiah (and many others. Agabus took Paul’s girdle, when he laid it by, or perhaps took it from about him, and with it bound first his own hands, and then his own feet, or perhaps bound his hands and feet together; this was designed both to confirm the prophecy (it was as sure to be done as if it were done already) and to affect those about him with it, because that which we see usually makes a greater impression upon us than that which we only hear of.”

We have shown from Scripture the nontravel days, and did not even count any of the 7 weekly Sabbath that would fall within the 50 days which are also no travel days. Having said that, we will now look at the miles they traveled during these 18 traveling days and see if it was possible for Paul to have kept the traditional Pentecost.

Then from Mitylene to Chios which appears to be about 80 mi. totals 230 mi. and eight traveling days if they made 80 mi. in one day. Then from Chios to Samos which is about 50 mi. totals 280 mi. and nine travel days. Remember the scripture only shows 30 mi. per day so I am being more than fair.

Then from Samos to Miletus which is about 30 mi. totaling 320 mi. and 10 traveling days.

The travel days were from Philippi to Troas covered approximately 150 mi. in 5 days. Another was the One day where Paul traveled 20 mi. from Troas to Assos which totals six travel days and 170 mi. Another of the 18 travel days was when they sailed from Assos to Mitylene which is 50 mi. totaling 220 mi. and seven traveling days. Then from Miletus to Coos which is about 60 mi. totaling 280 mi. and 11 travel days. Then from Coos to Rhodes which is about 50 mi. totaling 330 mi. and 12 travel days.

Then from Rhodes to Patara appears to be about 75 mi. totaling 405 mi. and 13 travel days.

We now have only five travel days remaining in which to travel the remaining 595 mi. and approximately 100 of these will have to be on foot as I will explain later.

Can it be done? NO! It cannot be done, it would take over five days just to travel the 100 days on foot. They would have to adverade about 120 mi. per day.

The next part of the timeline is from Patara to Tyre which is about 400 mi. but it does not say how many days it took them to get there, so I’ll just put this part of the timeline on hold for now and come back to it in a minute.

After landing in Tyre and finishing their course, they went to Ptolemais which is about 30 mi. where they abode one day with the brethren and I have already counted the one day with the no travel days above. Not sure what to do with this 30 mi. and the 40 mi. from Ptolemais to Caesarea and then 70 mi. from Caesarea to Jerusalem. But at any rate they only have five travel days remaining to travel 595 mi. and 100 of these miles will be by foot. How do we handle this, assuming I am correct in my count? It would take five days on foot just to travel the 100 mi. and you still have the 400 mi. trip by ship that we did not deal with above. According to the book Jesus and His Times, 1987, by The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc., Pleasantville, NY, page 193, people on foot averaged around 15 to 20 miles per day.

Using the above figures, we can do the math and see how long it took them to travel the 100 mi.

I didn’t even mention the possibility of weekly Sabbaths that might fall in a way to make a few more no travel days. Let’s say there seven sabbaths in 50 days and two of them would be covered in the two 7 days layovers which would leave five more no travel days and then there would be 37 no travel days instead of 32, leaving only 13 travel days days, in which to travel the 1000 mi., instead of 18.

If Paul left in just enough time to barely get there for service, like some preachers today, how would you account for all the devout Jews that were gathered there BEFORE PENTECOST? The historian Josephus even tells how they went up seven days early to purify themselves.

In Josephus wars of the Jews pg. 742 Ch 5- (290) “when the people were come in great crowds to the feast of unleavened bread, on theeighth day of the month Xanthicus [Nisan],” The foot note “e” in Josephus says that a week before Passover they went up to Jerusalem to PURIFY themselves, John 11:55 agrees with Josephus, quote:

The great crowds spoken of here could be referring to where The Elders says to Paul, “see how many thousands of Jews that believe”

John 11:55

“And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem BEFORE the Passover, to PURIFYthemselves

I believe the many that went up before the feast were the devout Jews.

John 12:1 is also in agreement with Josephus. “1Then our Saviour six days BEFORE the Passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2There they made him a supper; and”

Remember how He went in and out the temple and back to Bethany each day before they took Him on the 14th These quotes and Scripture prove that normally the Jews went up to Jerusalem early before Pentecost and that’s why James said that they were zealous toward the Law, (Pentecost) and that is why they went up early.

Paul was no less devout than these Jews and besides it had been many years since he had been up to Jerusalem and he said he must by all means keep this feast that cometh up at Jerusalem. This statement shows that Paul was not going up just to be on time for Pentecost, but to witness and fellowship before Pentecost and the fact that he abode many days at Philips house shows that he had plenty of time to arrive at Jerusalem a week or two before Pentecost to accomplish his intent.

The book of Acts is telling us where they traveled to, but is not telling us how far and how long it took to get to each stop where the captain of the ship probably traded goods and took on goods and passengers at each stop and also allowed passengers to freshen up etc. I will explain and give history later how they stayed overnight and done most of the traveling during the day which was much safer.

The history I read shows ship sailed within sight of land and could easily pull into a town or village for Sabbath and then continue their journey afterwards and perhaps when they made the 140 mi. journey on land from Tyre to Jerusalem, they could have stopped alone the way for the weekly Sabbath, which is not mentioned in Scripture. Using this logic I could easily add more nontravel days making it even more impossible if there is such a thing, for them to have made the 1000 mi. trip in his little as 12 days or less But the fact of the matter is, without using any of the weekly Sabbath no travel days, it is absolutely impossible for Paul to have kept the traditional Pentecost 50 days after the wave sheaf so therefore he obviously kept the true Pentecost 50 days after the seventh Sabbath complete according to Leviticus 23:16 and the many scriptural proofs and examples that I have given in other chapters.

I could have taken each stop and argued that they stayed longer at certain places because it does not say one way or the other and I could argue that it took time to locating ship going in their direction, days, and sometimes weeks, and I could have shown how Paul was not as a pony express rider who jumped off one horse and on to the next as if Paul had a ship waiting on him each time etc. but I knew that would not convince anyone but the mathematical aspect of it cannot intelligently be argued against. As the old saying goes, figures never lie and liars never figure.

If this were not enough I can also show that Paul arrived early enough before Pentecost to fellowship with the brethren and the next day go in unto James and all the elders and be advised of them that there were many thousands of believing Jews who had gathered early because they were zealous of the Law and Paul purifying himself seven days with some men that had a vow on them and show these thousands of Jews that Paul also walks orderly and keeps the Law. All this was at least seven days BEFORE Pentecost. Also the Jews from Asia saw Paul in the temple when the seven days was almost ended, probably near evenjng, they stirred up the people against Paul etc. my point is these Jews from Asia and this multitude of people should have been gone home seven days after Pentecost. Pentecost was not begun yet because when the soldiers took Paul to Caesarea, his accusers were to follow them down which they did AFTER five days Ananias the high priest and others came down to accuse Paul but why did they wait five days to do this unless they were busy keeping Pentecost at Jerusalem and after it was over they came down but not before it was over. All these things and many more to numerous to mention shows that Pentecost is 50 days after the seventh Sabbath complete instead of 50 days after the wave sheaf. I believe I am not completly correct on my count but am too tired to corect it now but even giving a few more days and miles, it is still IMPOSSIBLE for them to have kept the traditional Pentecost.

“TWO” WHEAT HARVESTS

The following information shows that even the Jewish Rabbis acknowledge the SECOND WHEAT HARVEST and is called the “new grain” wheat harvest each year, NOT the first wheat harvest. If they could only realize that the Scripture connects Pentecost with the second NEW GRAIN harvest, NOT the first.

The Jewish Rabbis recognize that there is ANOTHER wheat harvest in Israel, that comes AFTER the traditional wheat harvest. The following articles described several Rabbis instructing the people not to eat any wheat from this SECOND wheat harvest because the grain is considered NEW GRAIN or as they call it, chodosh grain. They instruct the people to save the spring wheat/new grain which is harvested in the summer until the following year.

You would think they would recognize that the Almighty instructed Israel that the firstfruits for Pentecost would be from the NEW GRAIN, yet they use old grain from the previous year, according to the following article.

The Spring Wheat Harvest Creates a Huge Dilemma for Jewish Rabbis.

There’s none so blind as he whom the Almighty has blinded and he that refuses to see.

The following will show just how blind some people are and show more evidence that the Pentecost NEW meat/grain offering had to be from the SPRING WHEAT which is harvested in the summer, 50 days AFTER the seventh Sabbath, Leviticus 23:16.

We all know or should know that Leviticus 23 teaches a NEW meat offering NOT an OLD one, is to be brought to the Almighty from the wheat harvest. The blinded Jews bring an OLD meat offering for the traditional Pentecost as you will see shortly.

The Rabbis teach that SPRING WHEAT that is planted in the spring and reaped four months later, in the summer can not be eaten until the following year because it is considered Chodosh/NEW grain/meat. Not realizing that the Almighty commanded A NEW GRAIN OFFERING which would be from the Pentecost wheat and therefore the spring wheat that is harvested in the summer is the true Pentecost wheat, but they don’t. They believe that anything planted during or after Passover cannot be eaten until after the next Passover wave sheaf has been waived.

According to this belief, the traditional Pentecost winter wheat cannot fit the requirements of a NEW meat/grain offering because it is considered OLD grain/meat because it is planted in the fall, and took root before Passover. Therefore there’s no way they can have a NEW grain offering of the wheat and unless there EYES are opened and they acknowledge the summer wheat harvest which produces the new Pentecost, there simply following tradition of men.

Even if they planted Winter wheat, it would NOT be considered a NEW grain/meat offering because it was planted before the Vernal Equinox and according to the Mishnah etc. it is considered old grain and the NEW grain/meat comes after Passover, in the summertime and that is exactly what the Scripture calls for but they are too blind to see because of their tradition etc..

The following web sites and definitions of new grain prove what I’m saying.

Here is an article by Rabbi Moshe who condemns eating NEW GRAIN (spring wheat) until the following year when it becomes old grain.

Preparing for Chodosh
Rabbi Moshe Heinemann, Star-K Rabbinic Administrator

The same Torah which does not permit us to eat the meat of an animal that does not have split hooves or chew its cud, also does not permit us to eat from new grain harvest until the barley omer sacrifice was brought in the Bais Hamikdash on the second day of Pesach.

The prohibited grain is called Chodosh.

What constitutes chodosh grain? Grain that was planted close to, during, or after Pesach, thereby taking root after the time of the omer sacrifice, is not permitted to be eaten until the following Pesach. This grain is calledChodosh, literally, new grain. One observes chodosh by not eating food products containing chodosh grain.

Grain that has taken root before Pesach, even if it is harvested afterPesach, is permitted to be eaten immediately, without restriction. This grain is called Yoshon, literally, old grain. When a yoshon designation appears on a label, it means that yoshon grains are used in the preparation of this product.

The prohibition of chodosh only applies to the chameishes minei dagan, the five major grain types, namely wheat, oats, barley, rye, and spelt.

Winter wheats are planted in the late fall or early winter and are harvested in the late spring or early summer. Since winter wheat is planted before Pesach and is harvested after Pesach, it is always yoshonSpring wheat is planted in the spring and is harvested in the late summer or early fall. Since spring wheat is usually planted after Pesach, one must wait until the following Pesach before the spring wheat becomes yoshon. Since the spring wheat, which is chodosh, reaches the marketplace at summer’s end, chodosh restrictions begin at the end of the summer and last until the following Pesach. Once the second day of Pesach passes, the prohibited chodosh grains are halachically transformed into yoshongrains and are permitted to be eaten. From after Pesach until the end of the summer all chodosh related problems cease….

Spring wheat is a high gluten, high protein variety, similar to hard red winter wheat. The protein of spring wheat is even higher than that of hard red winter wheat, and is also used for bread dough. Soft white wheat is a soft wheat used for cakes, cookies, and crackers…

One may assume that products made from soft red winter wheat are always yoshon. One should assume other products, such as bread, bagel dough, and yeast cakes, are chodosh.

There is an opinion that chodosh restrictions apply only to grain grown in Eretz Yisroel. Another opinion asserts that chodosh applies only to the grain of a Yehudi. However, the majority of Poskim agree thatchodosh still applies today to all grains grown “IN” and outside ofEretz Yisroel, belonging to Jew or non-Jew alike.

This brief article was intended to familiarize the public with the mitzvah ofchodosh. Individuals who are interested in accepting upon themselves this beautiful mitzvah should accept it bli neder, in order not to create possible problems where no yoshon products are available.

http://www.star-k.org/kashrus/kk-yoshon-prepchodosh.htm

One web site says,

“Chodosh — the new crop of grain (spring wheat). Originally, chodosh was forbidden by the Torah until after Pesach (when it is then called yoshon, the old crop). Its status today outside of Israel is open to various opinions. Actual chodosh grain is prohibited even outside of Israel, but with the double doubt as to whether a product is made from winter or spring wheat and whether that spring wheat is from this year’s crop or last year’s, many authorities are lenient outside of Israel. All kashrus agencies require yoshon status for products of Israel.”http://www.kashrusmagazine.com/magazine.php?do=133

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshon we read,

In JudaismYoshon (Hebrewéùï ; “old [grain]“) is a concept within Kashrut (the Jewish dietary regulations), based on the Biblical requirement not to eat any chodosh— grain of the new year (or products made from it) prior to the annual Omer offering on 16th Nisan.[1]

In classical Rabbinic Judaism, this requirement was considered restricted to the five classical grains of Judaism -wheatbarleyoatsspelt, and rye; any of these grains that are too young to pass the requirement (and products made from them) are referred to in Judaism as Chodosh, meaning “new [grain].” Additionally, the Rabbinic interpretation requires grain to have taken root prior to the omer offering for it to become permitted; therefore, grains planted after Passover could only be consumed the following year.

See also http://www.tzemachdovid.org/thepracticaltorah/emor.shtml andhttp://www.fao.org/nr/water/cropinfo_wheat.html

And http://www.star-k.org/kashrus/kk-yoshon-old_new.htm for full details. And athttp://www.ou.org/kosher/daf/advanced/yoshen.htm and http://www.star-k.org/kashrus/kk-yoshon-prepchodosh.htm

Jewish Rabbis are discussing the problem and referring to the Mishnah etc. to prove that everything harvested after Passover is NEW meat/grain unless it was planted and took root before Passover and then it is OLD grain/meat and I believe the Scripture teaches it is supposed to be A NEW MEAT OFFERING. Had they not brought in another wheat harvest, they would not be having this dilemma.

Also remember that Lamentation 2:6 teaches that He would cause BOTH the Sabbaths AND feast days to be forgotten in Zion, and that is exactly what has happened.

I think the key to the whole thing is to remember that they were and are TWO wheat harvest in Israel. The Jewish Rabbis teach that the SECOND wheat harvest is the NEW GRAIN of the year and cannot be used until the next year. See http://www.kashrusmagazine.com/magazine.php?do=133 also see Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia athttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshon also see this one at http://www.star-k.org/kashrus/kk-yoshon-prepchodosh.htm they ALL show that it is the SECOND wheat harvest that produces the NEW GRAIN, not the first wheat harvest. The Scripture connects Pentecost with the new grain offering, NOT the old grain.

Not only does Israel have winter and spring wheat but they also have winter and spring barley, oats, rye, etc.. Winter wheat is sown in the fall and harvested in the spring about two weeks after the winter Barley harvest and the spring wheat is sown in the spring and harvested in the summer about four months later and this is the harvest is found in Scripture for Pentecost wheat.

I hope this information help you to understand that there is a SECOND wheat harvest in Israel which is harvested about 50 days after the first wheat harvest and goes unnoticed because of the traditions of men. See my article on Pentecost at http://lunarsabbath.info/_wsn/page4.html

The Dead Sea Scrolls Proves Lunar Sabbaths

Created by pastorbuddy on 3/13/2009

The Dead Sea Scrolls Proves Lunar Sabbaths.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are considered by scholars to be authored by the Essenes, a sect in first century Judaism. In the Dead Sea Scrolls, there are a number of extra-biblical scrolls which appear to shed light on what this sect believed and practiced. Understanding what they believed can be helpful in determining whether or not the Lunar Sabbath was being observed by mainstream Judaism of that time.

Lunar Sabbatarians believe that the authors of these scrolls keep a Lunar Sabbath BECAUSE these AUTHORS would say things like the new moon will fall on this date or that date of a particular month, even saying things like the new moon falls on the 25th etc. this is conclusive evidence that they had to have had a solar only calendar in front of them and were showing where the New Moon would hit on the Solar calendar because the true new moon can never be on the 25th but is is always on the first day of every month, so they were obviously showing where the new moon would fall on the solar only calendar and that because the new moon was not a part of the solar only calendar. The same is true with the full moon and the true weekly Sabbaths, they also would show where they would fall on Julius Caesar’s calendar because they also were not a part of it eather, as the following will show. Anyone who cannot accept the fact that there were TWO calendars, the Creation Calendar, and Julis Caear’s Calendar, is in a state of denial. And if you can accept that fact, the evidence shows that “if” they were observing the traditional seventh day Sabbaths there would be no need to mention where the seventh day Sabbaths fall because on the traditional every seven-day Sabbath calendar, the Sabbath will be on every seventh day, but if the Sabbaths and new moon days were by the moon, then naturally they would have to show what date they fell on the solar only calendar. This is an absolute.
Below is still more evidence that the Dead Sea Scrolls support the Lunar Sabbaths. Again, as I said, the scribes are showing where the true Sabbaths and new moons falls on the solar only calendar. If the true weekly Sabbath was a repetition seven-day pattern, the scribes would not have to tell you where the Sabbaths fall, because they would already be every seventh day. Same thing with the true new moon/month, if it were a part of that calendar, they would not have to tell you where it falls . We do the same thing today, we lay our solar only calendar out and circle the days on which the true new moons falls, true feast days, and the true creation Sabbaths Falls. If the new moons and Sabbaths were a part of that calendar, it would be no need to have to say they fall here or there. We have to do this because the creation calendar, with its new moons and Sabbaths is not a part of Caesars calendar, therefore we have to show where the full moon, new moon, feast days, and Sabbaths days fall, throughout the solar year. The scribes were in a transitional period from solar lunar calendar to a strictly solar only calendar and today we are in a transitional period back the other way. The Dead Sea Scrolls are very choppy to say the least, and hard to read, sometimes even guessing at what it is saying and what should go where, but the very fact that they are telling you where the Sabbath and new moons etc. falls, proves that the true Sabbaths and new moons were not a part of the solar only calendar that was in front of them and therefore it is conclusive proof that they were keeping lunar months and lunar weeks with a lunar Sabbath at the end of the lunar week.

Noticed the language that is used when showing where the Sabbath and new moons etc. falls.
4Qcalendrical Document (4Q327)

Frag 2 col. III 1falls [on a Sabbath.] 2 The eleven[th] 3 on a Sabbath. 4 The eight5eenth falls on a Sabbath. 6 The twenty-7fifth 8 falls only Sabbath. 4 The second 10 of the month

It is obvious that there are two calendars being compared and the authors are marking which days of the solar only calendar falls on the Sabbath, in order to plan their schedules. We go through the whole year’s calendar month by month circling which days falls on the creation Sabbath throughout the whole year so we can plan out our Roman commercial work weeks and not profane the true creation Sabbaths and new moons when they come around. You would not need to say the 16th falls on a Sabbath if the 16th was a Sabbath on the Roman calendar because it is every seventh day regardless. The Sabbath that the 16 falls on was obviously a lunar Sabbath by the moon and was not a part of the solar only calendar and that is why they tell where it falls. They also used the exact same method with the new moons because they do not belong on that calendar either. If they had said the 16th falls on a new moon instead of a Sabbath, what would you think they were talking about? (meditate on that awhile) I would think that the 16th of the solar only calendar falls on the true new moon day which is not a part of that calendar, just like the creation Sabbath is not a part of that Roman calendar either.

When we were planning a vacation or perhaps we get a speeding ticket and have to go to court on the 20th and my wife says the 20th fall’s on a Sabbaths, that don’t mean that the 20th is on the traditional Saturday that comes every seventh day on that calendar because we are lunar Sabbath observers and were speaking of the Sabbath that is not part of the traditional world calendar that the court uses.
When we read in the Dead Sea Scrolls how that the writers were making calendars showing how that certain days of the lunar month such as the full moon or new moon will fall on the 25th etc, we know from deductive reasoning that there are two calendars in view because the full moon or new moon cannot fall on the 25th of the month.

I could see how someone might sit down in front of a Roman calendar and say that the New moon will fall here or their BECAUSE the New moon is OUTSIDE of that calendar and is not a part of it and therefore one might say the New moon will fall on this date or that date, or they might say this date or that date falls on the new moon because it is not part of that calendar, but I CANNOT see how someone would sit down in front of the traditional calendar and say the Sabbath falls on this day or that day UNLESS it to IS NOT a part of that calendar. They would be no need to say the Saturday/Sabbath fall here or there because every SEVENTH day is a Saturday/Sabbath, UNLESS, like I said these Sabbaths and new moons that they were speaking of, were OUTSIDE the Roman calendar, same as the full moon, and other feast days and it had to be made known where they would fall, it makes no sense any other way. I.e. The New moon will fall on this date of the month and why say the 16 falls on the Sabbath if the 16th is a Sabbath???? The New Moon is always on the first day of the month, you do not have to say it is going to fall here or there if it were a part of that calendar and the same logic applies to the weekly Sabbath, which falls on the quarters of the moon.

If the calendar they were sitting before was a 1 through 7 Solar ONLY calendar, which seems to be the case here, why say anything concerning where the Sabbath Falls? Why even talk about it? Wouldn’t It be common knowledge that it fell every seventh day? Surely everyone can understands why they would say the true New moon falls here or there, because it was not a part of that calendar that they were sitting before and when they said the Sabbath falls here or there, is because it was not part of that calendar ether.

We also see in the Dead Sea Scrolls where they were showing where other feast days fell on the solar only calendar, such as Tabernacles, Day of Atonement, Passover, Wave Sheaf, etc. fell on days not consistent with scripture and we know all of these are by the Moon also, same as the weekly Sabbath and New Moon and had to be shown where they fall.

The Sabbaths were by the phases of the Moon same as the New moon and the other Holy Feast days were, and not common knowledge therefore they could intelligently say the New moon or Sabbath Falls here or their but it would not make sense to say anything at all unless the Sabbath that they would speaking of did not normally belong on that solar only calendar, same as the New moon and the other feast days does not belong on it. It seems evident that they were sitting before the Roman calendar and pinpointing when the TRUE New moons and the LUNAR seventh day Sabbath Falls.

No one would sit down with the Roman calendar and plan out their Sabbaths and new moons throughout the year, saying, the Sabbaths fall here or their unless the Sabbath does not normally belong their.

It would make PERFECT sense to EXPLAIN that the New moon falls on such and such a date of the Roman calendar but it would not make ANY sense to explain where the weekly Sabbaths falls on the Roman calendar if they are already a part of the Roman calendar EVERY SEVEN DAYS. This alone proves that the Sabbath and New moon/month that they referred to as falling on certain days is referring to the Creation Sabbath and New moon appointments spoken of in Genesis 1:14.the
Examples, In scroll 4Q320 fragment 4 col. V1 says the Day of Atonement falls on the 6th, and the feast of tents on the 4th, Passover on the 3rd, waving of the sheaf on the 1st, second Passover on the 3rd, day of remembrance on the 4th, and so on. We know that these dates are not consistent with Scripture and the only explanation is that these were dates on the creation calendar and the calendar makers were showing where these day would fall on the man-made solar only calendar, possibly for commercial reasons.
I can show in the scrolls, if anyone is interested, where the full moon falls on days like the 25th and new moon the same way and we all know there can neither be a new moon or full moon on the 25th etc, no more than the Day of Atonement on the sixth. These men were in a transitional period, much like today, people will ask us when the Sabbaths and new moon are going fall this month etc. because the true Sabbaths and true new moons are not a part of these traditional Roman calendars.
Even many of the traditional Roman calendars of today show where the New moons and its 4 quarterly weekly phases will fall throughout the months of the year which the ancient calendar makers called Sabbaths, before the destruction of the Temple. We find in the Dead Sea Scrolls where this was being done, see above. Hardly anyone would ever wonders why the New moon and its seven-day phases appears on the calendar, after all WHO CARES? They mean nothing to us today, but should they? Why does the world care? Could it be that we still have the same type calendars today and they still show us where the new moon worship day falls and where the quarter worship days fall, but no one knows what they are for today our pays them no attention but when it was fresh the Jewish people would know what days their weekly Sabbaths and new moon fell on for commercial reasons etc.

After the destruction of the Temple and the religious Jewish people scattered, and the Roman solar only calendar had phased its way in, which no longer used the moon for months as proven by any good encyclopedia under calendar. The New commercial calendar just counted one through seven, over and over again and when they came to the new Moon worship day, they also counted it as an ordinary workday and continued the one through seven count and that’s what we have today because they’ve done away with the new moon day marker. People do not recognize the New moons and Creation Sabbaths/quarter moons that overlay on to the Roman calendar, should be kept, because of the traditions of men. The same type transitional calendars that these men worked on are still before us today but we don’t understand them because of the traditions of men.

Over time men realized that the moon affected many things including agricultural and assumed that this is why the ancient calendar makers were place their, showing where the New moons and Sabbaths fell but we believe it was originally for religious purposes because they also showed where the other Holy Feasts days fell on the calendar also. Those moon phases are still there on the calendar today but are not used for religious appointments as they were during the time of the Dead Sea Scrolls and as Genesis 1:14 where it teaches to let them be for appointments, was intended.

The ESSENES

The scroll shows that they were NOT observing a recurring seven day weekly cycle, independent of the moon phases.

In the book of Philo and Josephus, speaks much about the Essenes. Josephus was a first century Jewish historian who wrote much about life in Judea during the first century. He goes into great detail as to how practices of the Essenes were different than others. He mentions everything from how the Essenes don’t carry anything with them when they travel, to how they regard oil to be defilement. InWars of the Jews 2:119-161, Josephus speaks of them in no less than 2000 words, describing over 100 characteristics of their way of life.

So did Josephus mention that they kept the Sabbath on a day that was different than the rest of Judaism?

Wars of the Jews 2:147 … “Moreover, they are stricter than any other of the Jews in resting from their labors on the seventh day; for they not only get their food ready the day before, that they may not be obliged to kindle a fire on that day, but they will not move any vessel out of its place, nor go to stool thereon.”

In this, Josephus even goes so far as to say that the Essenes are “stricter than any other of the Jews in resting from their labors on the seventh day.” Does it sound like there was any disagreement as to when the Sabbath was? Wouldn’t it seem strange that Josephus would mention that the Essenes were stricter in their resting from labors on the Sabbath but not bother to mention that the Essenes held the Sabbath on a totally different day than himself or the other Jews of that period?

The fact is, if the Essenes were keeping a different day than the rest of JudaismJosephus wouldn’t have been able to say that they were even resting on the seventh day to begin with. He would have to say they were typically resting on some other day and when I get to Philo, I will give the CONCLUSIVE PROOF that the Esseness OBSERVED LUNAR SABBATHS, same as the rest of the Jews and our Savior and His Apostles.

There is no record in the Dead Sea Scrolls of the Essenes disagreeing with other groups as to when the Sabbath was. In fact, there is no historical record of any Jewish sects disagreeing with each other on when the Sabbath was.

In another interesting note, Josephus speaks of one of the large towers that were built in Jerusalem:

Wars of the Jews 4:582

He writes “and the last was erected above the top of the Pastophoria, where one of the priests stood of course, and gave a signal beforehand with a trumpet, at the beginning of every seventh day, in the evening twilight, as also at the eveningwhen that day was finished, as giving notice to the people when they were to stop work, and when they were to go to work again.”

So his report is that a trumpet was blown at the beginning of every seventh day, to mark when the people should stop working, and begin working.

It’s quite evident from Josephus that the Essenes observe the same weekly Sabbath as did the Jews and after we see what Philo had to say, I will proceed to show that the weeks and seventh day of the weeks were Lunar, during the time of the Mesiah.

PHILO

First I will give you some of what Philo had to say about the ESSENES and then I will show you what Philo had to say about the SEVENTH DAY and how It was by the phases of the moon and I will give conclusive proof that Philo also observed LUNAR Sabbaths, as did the Essenes and the rest of the Jews of that day. Philo wrote, speaking of the Essenes,

EVERY GOOD MAN IS FREE XIII (91

(91) “and yet no one, not even of those immoderately cruel tyrants, nor of the more treacherous and hypocritical oppressors was ever able to bring any real accusation against the multitude of those called Essenes or Holy. But everyone being subdued by the virtue of these men, looked up to them ….”

Note that Philo could not have said this if the Essenes observed a different Sabbath, they would not have looked up to them if they were Sabbath breakers.

Philo also sayds, EVERY GOOD MAN IS FREE X11 (81)

(81) “Now these laws they are taught at other times, indeed, but most ESPECIALLY ON THE SEVENTH DAY, for the seventh day is accounted sacred, on which they abstain from all other employments, and frequent the sacred places which are called synagogues, and there they sit according to their age in classes, the younger sitting under the elder, and listening with eager attention in becoming order.

Note it is obvious that Josephus Philo, and the Essenes observed the same Sabbat day and of course our Savior kept the same. Philo writes,

ON THE CONTEMPLATIVE LIFE

I. (1) Having mentioned the Essenes, who in all respects selected for their admiration and for their especial adoption the practical course of life, and who excel in all, ….

III (30) Therefore, during six days, each of these individuals, retiring into solitude by himself, philosophises by himself in one of the places called monasteries, never going outside the threshold of the outer court, and indeed never even looking out. But on the seventh day they all come together as if to meet in a sacred assembly, and they sit down in order according to their ages”

Philo Judaeus, The Works of Philo, (Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems) 1997.

We have presented enough conclusive evidence to show that the ESSENES observed the same weekly Sabbath as did Philo and the Jews of his day, including our Savior and His Apostles. Now I will show conclusive proof that Philo observed Lunar WEEKS and Seventh Day Sabbaths at the END of the Lunar weeks. See BrotherArnold’s Philo article at http://yahuahreigns.informe.com/forum/philo-c-20-bce-to-c-50-a-d-dt77.html?sid=448480a96b8ebf1423241a53302afe1f

Philo, ON MATING WITH THE PRELIMINARY STUDIES, X1X (102) says,

“… the sacrifices which have been preserved in the soul, which is illuminated in two portions out of the three, until it is entirely changed in every part, and becomes a heavenly brilliancy like a “FULL MOON”, at the height of its increase at the “END OF THE SECOND “WEEK”…
Please notice what Philo said in the highlighted. His readers and fellow Jews of that era or in those days connected the WEEK with the phases of the moon and understood that the “WEEKS WERE BY THE MOON”, and that at the end of the “SECOND WEEK” they would be a full moon/Sabbath. This statement needs no interpretation. The people in Philo’s audience understood through common knowledge that the WEEKS were by the moon, same as in the Scriptures. If this is so then the sacred seventh day of the week, which comes at the end of the second week, must be a “FULL MOON” /15th Sabbath (See Psalms 81:3-6). Why? Because in many places Philo speaks of the weekly seventh day, and we all know that the seventh day comes at the end of the week. People would like for us to believe that the months were originally by the moon but the weeks were not.

Philo was making an observation of how a person can be spiritually illuminated to a full brilliance just like a full moon at the height of its increase at the end of the second week.
Philo did not count the new moon when counting out the weeks as the calendars do today. This statement is very easily proven from the writings of Philo because he states in other places throughout his book, that the full moon is on the 15th each month, and he also separates the new moon from the weeks as a separate feast day therefore they did not count the new moon when counting out the weeks. Writers today would instead count the new moon day in counting their weeks, but it is obvious from Philo that he did not count the new moon day when counting out the weeks. The reason we know this is because if the new moon day was counted, you would not have a full moon at the end of the second week because that would be the 14th instead of the 15th and Philo plainly declares many times that the full moon is on the 15th.

I have so much proof from Philo that it would make my post so long that people might not read it so go tohttp://lunarsabbath.info/_wsn/page3.html for more proofs from Philo and if you need more you can e-mail me and I will send you all my notes on it.

Bottom-line is that it does not take a Sherlock Holmes to look at the Historical documents and prove that the Essenes and Jews observed the same seventh day Sabbath and that Philo the Jew observed lunar Sabbaths and our Saviour and the Jews observed the same seventh day Sabbath and then when we used deductive reasoning we conclude that in the Messiah and His disciples observed lunar Sabbaths. It is elementary when using deductive reasoning.

What is Truth?

What is Truth?

http://stargods.org/WhatIsTruth.html
-Oct. 10th, 2007-

What is truth? Everyone has different ideas, and the only time they are spiritually united, is when we are under the direction of an institutionalized church. It is not about truth and who is right and who is wrong because these are perspectives. Perspectives are like snowflakes, no two are the same unless you submit to the universal perspectives of organized religion. At that point you become a slave of the controlled mind.

People today desire not to think or search for higher and elusive truths. They want the churches to think for them, and put all truth in a pretty box with a pink ribbon. Secular society allows TV to think for them and relives all from the responsibility of individual thought. Individual thought means change, and most people do not want change. Like controlled cattle they desire to work all day, only to come home and shut down their brain with the use of TV.

Truth and individual thinking is shunned by today’s society. They believe what they are told to believe and follow the herd without question. Society hates truth. Having said this, we have many churches claiming to have the truth. Well if the churches have all spiritual truth, then they would have been emptied out and shut down centuries ago because the herd hates the responsibility of truth.

Many claim to search for truth, but when given truth, they scream “heresy!” So called “truth seekers” claim to want truth, yet when told some truth, they respond with, “You can’t say that!” Many Christians today use the fear of the Devil and hell to shut free thinkers down. Anyone with an opposing perspective is called a deceiver and part of the New World Order. In the past non-conformist thinkers were burned alive on a stake. Today we have laws against this; so free thinkers of today are often threatened with hell fire and damnation for thinking outside the box.

Herd mentality demands complete blind faith in church and bible. These pillars of religion can never be questioned. Well if truth is truth, then it demands and invites questions and debate. If one questions the Church or the Bible, he or she will receive a “Get behind me Satan” look by the herd thinkers. The Ranch hands often protect the herd thinkers. They water down all arguments and debates using used car salesmen logic. Some can also be fuzzy and placid in their arguments. These protectors, with a wave of their hand, and the use of flimsy logic, win over all debates, and are seen as great-learned ones among the cattle. Some go on to become so called theologians of institutionalized thinking.

It is so ironic how church believers protect themselves from Satan and his lies, yet at the same time, Satan us used by the spiritual hierarchies to keep the herd in fear so they reject all truth. Satan appears to be the great boogieman that keeps the mindless cattle together through the use of fear. Get out of line and you will burn, suffer, choke, and weep in hellfire for ever and ever amen. Like in the movie Wizard of OZ, the spiritual cattle are told by the Great and almighty OZ never to look behind the curtain. The herd of today are told that if they do speak and question the doctrines, well this means they are backsliding into hell fire. A good Christian soldier is never allowed to question or to think beyond the chains of doctrines.

The question is this; did Jesus teach doctrines of control? No. In fact he would often break Sabbath laws. What Jesus taught was love, advice, and not doctrines of control. He came to impart knowledge to the willing and waiting. He came to set us free. Yes, free from the Law/doctrines. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matt 11:29-30 The concept of love frees us from fear and control. Christ is in us guiding, teaching, and leading us to the Father. So with Christ in us, who needs church? What we have in us is far more spiritual than any church or scripture. Christ is in us leading us, and setting us free.

In this time, Christians have become far too judgemental. One issue is the Gay movement. Yes some can act in ungodly ways in the media, but so can heterosexuals. It is strange for me how churches condemn Gays, yet at the same time, they ignore the ramped womanizing and pedophile actions among various churches. People should concentrate more on their spiritual growth instead of pointing fingers at others. Christians tend to poke their self-righteous sticks in people’s eyes and then wonder why people get hostile with them? There is an old saying that tells us to clean up our own backyards first. If it is important to you, then set an example and stop the finger pointing. Love and truth does not seek to enslave and control others.

What is this faith that the cattle Christians push? It is a doctrine that Jesus died for our sins, and if we do not blindly accept this, we will go on to be tortured forever in a lake of fire. The Church feels that they have to push Jesus down the throats of the “pagans” so they accept Jesus in their hearts. Accepting Jesus forgives all sins. Then they can continue to sin, but now it is okay because of the bloody human sacrifice of Jesus. This is another chain link forged into the shackles of power and control.

Christ did not come to free us from sin. We are born in sin. We breathe, ingest, and live in sin. Telling us not to sin is like telling a cat not to chase birds; it is never going to happen no matter how many human sacrifices there are. God is God, and I as a free thinker, do not agree with the fact that we must mouth a prayer of salvation and that’s it. Aging everything is all neatly packed into a pretty box and tied with a fuzzy ribbon. The Church does not focus on spiritual growth at all. They just focus on sin and guilt. We are told that we are pathetic sinners disserving death, and this is why we need the churches. With out the Church, we will all backslide into hell. This is not a doctrine of love. It is about using guilt to manipulate and control us! There is no sin, only lessons and challenges.

When we sin, we should never feel guilty because sin is what makes us human. Don’t beg for forgiveness, let us just thank God for our growth. We all have to grow spiritually one day at a time, brick by brick, and piece by piece. A true God of love never condemns us. When a baby is learning to walk, do we condemn that child for falling, or do we offer a helping hand? Should the child just sit their and wallow in guilt and feel like a pathetic sinner? No. Rise up and move forward!

God is far above anything we can conceive. He is as far above us, as we are to an insect. God is for all mankind. All we need to do is start learning from God. Jesus came to lead us to the Father, not to teach salvation prayers. God waits for us to begin to focus on him and to learn. As we learn, we grow closer to God. Sin is what happens when we miss the mark. In the Bible sin simply means to miss the mark in a race. In a race some cross the finish line, while others take longer, yet in the end, all cross the finish line. Mouthing a salvation prayer moves us into fuzzy warm and churches of bondage. Seeking the knowledge and love of God moves us into his presence. Never judge the spiritual journeys of others because we are all learning and growing towards God, and none of us has all the answers! We only have our own personal perspectives. God is bigger than any box man can make! Want to be “saved?” Then just start living for for the spirit and not the flesh. May God bless you in this journey called life.
